Great start of the season.

For some teams it was already do-or-die time, because of different reasons and after the gameday for some teams the season looks brighter and for some already darker.

So let us track the games in the BLOCK OF GRANITE TOP 3 GAMES FOR WEEK 1

Fri. Sep. 1
Colorado State vs Colorado
The Rams were held to 3 points, which might be a good signal for the Buffaloes.
They will face some score-happy teams and if they can stop those as they did with the Rams, the PAC-12 South will be interesting.
Colorado did on the other hand not score too much, so maybe the problems are more on that side of the ball?
We will see.
Fact is, Colorado did win the Showdown and will face Texas State next, which should be much easier.
CSU will face a FCS team next.
Colorado State 3 - Colorado 17 -> Jacks TOP 3 GAMES Score: 4-0

Sat. Sep. 2
#11 Michigan vs #17 Florida
Oh, I wish this would have been better.
The first half did look good, but Michigan was error prone and when they came out of the locker room again, Florida had no chance and lost.
The consequence for eventual playoff spots are not known, but right now, I would not bet on Florida to win the SEC East, so maybe this is not too bad for them.
Michigan will play Air Force next, Florida will play a FCS team.
Michigan 33 - Florida 17 -> Jacks TOP 3 GAMES Score: 5-0

Sat. Sep. 2
#3 Florida State @ #1 Alabama
It could have been so nice.
Two playoff contenders battling it out and after a close game the winner would have a small step ahead in the playoff race.
The reality did pan out different.
Alabama did held FSU to 7 points and did win, not in a close match.
On top did the Seminoles lose their starting QB for the season, which will likely result in a different outcome in the race for the ACC and the playoffs.
Alabama did lose some LBs, but they are loaded, so this might not be that hard for them.
Florida State will meet Louisiana-Monroe next, while Alabama will play against Fresno State.
Florida State 7 - Alabama 24 -> Jacks TOP 3 GAMES Score: 6-0

Other interesting games:
Thu. Aug. 31
Tulsa @ #10 Oklahoma State
The Cowboys were never in danger to lose the game and won 59-24.
The Big-12 could become quite interesting this season.
Jacks interesting games Score: 2-0

Sat. Sep. 2
Appalachian State @ #15 Georgia
No chance for the Mountaineers, losing 31-10 and were only able to score in garbage time. Georgia looks like a team to watch.
Jacks interesting games Score: 3-0

Sun. Sep. 3
#22 West Virginia vs #21 Virginia Tech
That wad a good one, and the Hokies played as I expected them to play, winning 31-24.
I think they are definitely in the mix for the ACC.
Jacks interesting games Score: 4-0

And some other results and info which might be interesting:
Even if it was an away game, the Houston @ UTSA game was postponed, but given the existing schedules, this might be cancelled, since only the end of the season could be spot were both teams do have time.
But Houston might have a championship game on that date. We will see.
Tennessee State was the first FCS team to win against a FBS team, beating Georgia State 17-10.
Maryland did win against the Texas Longhorns, which do have a new coach, 51-41. This will not turn around quickly dear Longhorns fans.
Cal did win against North Carolina 35-30. Cal has a new HC who had a perfect start.
UAB won their return to FBS football against a FCS team 38-7. UAB was closed down 3 seasons ago and revived after heavy protest.
James Madison (FCS) did beat East Carolina 34-14. Not a good start for the Pirates and their second year coach.
Coastal Carolina, a new team in the FBS and Sun Belt this season, did start well, winning 38-28 against UMass.
FCS team Liberty won against new coached Baylor 48-45. The Bears campus is still under fire because of the sexual abuse scandal.
The FCS team Howard was a 45 point underdog against UNLV, but won 43-40, the biggest upset in 10 years.
