TigerCats vs BobBoy Magpies: A Grey Wizard’s Review from TigerCage

In the deep bowl of TigerCage, beneath the watchful eyes of 140100 visitors and the smoky blessing of Killarmy Scotch, the TigerCats and the BobBoy Magpies met in a League match foretold by the wise to be close. And close it was for long stretches, though the home side carried the brighter flame when the shadows grew tall.
The first great thunderclap came early, when Earnest Rich sought Jeffery Fink and instead found doom: Brooks Singh intercepted the pass and bore it back all the way for a TigerCats touchdown. Rafael Abell followed with the good extra kick, and the home crowd roared as if the Balrog itself had been cast down.
The Magpies tried to answer through Reggie Pritchett and Justin Silver, but the TigerCats defense bit hard. Willian Caballero struck again for the hosts when Justin Silver fumbled, and Caballero recovered before returning the ball deep into Magpies territory. That spell of chaos led to Rafael Abell’s successful field goal from 34 yards.
In the second quarter, Elias Rowell guided a sturdy TigerCats march with Haywood Crosby grinding through the earth like an ent on the move. Quincy York finished the drive with an 11-yard touchdown run, and Abell’s extra kick was true. Yet the BobBoy Magpies were not broken. Earnest Rich and his receivers found rhythm, and Justin Silver crossed the goal line on an 11-yard run. Bruce Faulk added the extra kick, then later struck a 30-yard field goal before the half, keeping the contest alive like a hidden ember.
There was also a grim stand by the Magpies defense when the TigerCats gambled on fourth down and were stopped, turning the ball over on downs. Such moments, small to the untrained eye, are runes carved into the stone of a match.
After the interval, Rafael Abell opened the next chapter with a mighty 51-yard field goal. But the Magpies answered with a long, patient march, Earnest Rich finding Teddy Gilson for a 10-yard touchdown pass, and Faulk’s extra kick sailed clean. The visitors had drawn near, and for a time the air in TigerCage grew tense, as if all present heard drums in the deep.
The TigerCats then steadied themselves. Rowell kept moving the chains with Zachariah Bouchard, Waldo Cuellar, King Keane, and Alfonzo Holmes all taking turns as torchbearers in the passing game. Early in the fourth quarter, Abell delivered again, this time with a 44-yard field goal.
When the BobBoy Magpies punted the TigerCats to their own doorstep, the home offense answered with a long and noble march. Rowell struck repeatedly through the air, Haywood Crosby and Quincy York added the hard yards, and York finished the drive with a 9-yard touchdown run. Abell’s extra kick was good, and the TigerCats had forged their decisive blow.
The Magpies kept fighting to the final breaths. Rich guided one last drive with completions to Zoran Winters, Randolph Numbers, Dominic Flood, and Reggie Pritchett, before Bruce Faulk made a 39-yard field goal. But the sands had nearly run out, and the TigerCats guarded the road home.
There were wounds and returns as well: Jason Snow limped away and came back for the Magpies, Kendrick Beam also returned after injury, while the TigerCats saw Zachariah Bouchard, Truman Wells, Cliff Barone, and Hong Shifflett all endure hard moments before the contest was done. Truly, this was no stroll through the Shire.
Final score: BobBoy Magpies 20 - TigerCats 30.
