I don't know if this has been mentioned before, and if so I do apologize as I couldn't find it. I also could be wrong as to how this mechanic works, but from what I have seen from the team my friend picked up, it does need adjusting.

The draft classes have seemingly become weaker by the season. Less likely to get a star key position in the draft unless it's DL/LB/CB. For example, this season there is a generational QB in our draft class. One I have never seen the likes of before. But our league also had 1/2 of the league as BOT teams. So this player will almost assuredly go to a bot team. The problem is, there is a penalty and possibly a ban for tanking to try and get a good player like this. Which I understand that, and agree with. However, this BOT team drafts this start QB, but when a player takes over the bot team, the whole roster is flushed and re-generated. This means in leagues that are not stacked with players, all the top talent just gets deleted. It's infuriating to know you can't really depend no the draft to build a competitive team anymore.

Again, I'm not 100% on how this works, but I saw a team get taken over by a manager I brought from another sim game. His team roster got dumped and was terrible. But the season prior, he had a couple of really nice draft picks that went to that team. But when he took the team, they were not on the roster and the whole roster dumped down to a 45 OFR roster. So if we are going to be penalized for taking to try and draft a good QB or stud RB, then why do we allow the best players in the draft to be taken by BOT teams and then deleted? Could we look for some sort of a workaround for this, please?

How it works at the moment, to help with your discussion

We consider bots to be landfill, not competition. And we consider the change of ownership of a team to be a full team reset.

And yes, bot drafted talent is lost for that league, but available for hiring for the whole community.

If the bot players become available, that's great. But I've yet to see it. I was watching a player last season that was drafted to a bot. The team never got picked up, and this season has. The roster has been reset to 0.0%. But he was never available on the FA market either. Did the name change, perhaps? I'll keep watching and hope he'll be available after the market opens back up.

But I do think this is a pretty weak way of doing things when the leagues have to compete with each other in Elite, for example. When only 1 or 2 really good players are in an entire draft, and both go to bot teams, or new players who bot out, and then immediately go to another league.. it lowers the talent in the league we're in while bolstering top draft guys from our league into other leagues. But at least, if what you are saying is accurate, at least they don't just get deleted as It appeared.

I think if a player is rated in let's say, the top 10 of it's draft class, it should not be allowed to be drafted by a bot team in the 1st round. That would prevent my concern, and keep some of the talent within the league it was put into from the draft. Otherwise, it just holds down the weaker leagues to some degree.

Maybe Bot teams could s e l e c t based upon age (older), teamwork (lower) and current star rating (lower). That would hopefully ensure that the player is unlikely to be a future star while being easy to assess.

I made similar suggestion few seasons back when NR1 on my draft board got picked by a BOT team. A player I considered a possible superstar and I havent seen such player since. I also thought its not good that BOT teams actually draft players and that they start with top picks - because they are weak. I´ve been told that the player is not really lost, because those drafted players go into a pool of players that are later released as FA.
So far I would say ok, could be. But I see a big downside in this - it seems there is no guarantee this player actually gets to the market. I just checked this guy I wanted to draft and he is still in the pool, no team. And even if he gets released, he will probably be untrained, so still as he was 20 yo. No training and probably also no exp.

So perhaps the solution might be to put these guys drafted by bots on the market in the few weeks after the draft automatically. That way they wont be wasted and there will be a chance to get them to play...
