I see them with wingspan, and they are defensive backs, however they or at least mine never make an interception, do their abilities of catching the ball help the corner backs in intercepting the ball.

Wondering what other think about their safties.

I was going to double what you wrote (because I never saw my SF intercept).
But decided to check the career stats of one of my FS first (because I don't watch all the matches carefully).

"
Matches 43
Interceptions (thrown/caught) 0/2
"

This player was never fielded in any position other than FS / SS backup / STT.
Also, this player's skills (except his physicals) are quite low at the moment.
So I guess it does happen. Just - infrequently.

EDIT:
-> chronicles -> team stats -> defense
I've also checked the above for my team. LB and CB interceptions on average about 4 times more, than by SF.
Specifically - by FS. I only had time to check 2 seasons, but in those 2, my SS had no interceptions (which I'm glad they didn't, because that would mean there is a hole to plumb in my understanding of the position's role).

I checked my career stats and got straight zeroes on all my softies, but it is nice to know that they will make an interception once in a blue moon, though they should be equivalent to the CB, especially on the longer pass plays.

Especially when the 3 3 5 is used as you have 3 softies on the field, it would stand to reason that they would be able to intercept more often.

I can't remember that my SF ever made an interception.

But they can do it, it happened couple of times for the opponent team.

Like 2-3 times in 30 seasons

So, yes they can, but really really really really rarely

There were moments in which my SF did make a INT.
Most of them were in cases when my opponents did used "Pass Deep" which in my book is a no-no. Odly i did saw 2 games in which my SF did had a INT, but my opponents did not have pass deep in those cases (because i asked them).
About SF helping the CB i don't really know, perhaps it does matter in a small part, but not likely. CB do get a lot more INTs, but that is mostly because of wing passing, but their skills have to be high.

This year all 13 of my interceptions have been LB or CB.

Last year I had 2 SF interceptions and 50 by the LB and CB combined.

Oddly, the Manchester Giants have had 12 INT this year. 4 by OL, 6 by DF and 2 by LB. Unless they have some very odd formations , I must assume that some players have changed position.

Last year my sf Mose F was my leader of interceptions with 9. He has 2 already this season.

It is nice to see safeties getting some interceptions, but it is low for a defensive back that plays in coverage. I would also state that if that is your best player on interceptions, I would think about improving my CBs and LBs. My CB 1 has 5 and CB 2 4 My linebackers have 4 between them with one of them having 3., but my safties have none and in their carrer stats they have none.

I wonder if the way SF get more interceptions, is to set blitz to have them included with non-zero probability.

Myself, I haven't included that in any of my PB. First of all, I have no positive experience with SF in the blitz. Second (probably more important ) - I have very little of _any_ blitz in my pb's. I am still in the slow develo process and I am only slowly amending pb's with new features. Waiting for at least some players to be good enough, to do any analyses what works and what not.

The idea in my top paragraph is only based on the fact (SF Niner, above) that SF _can_ have significant number of interceptions. I know too little about blitz tactics IRL, to firmly state that yes - SF participation in blitz tactics increases the chance for that. I can only guess (hoping some of you would be able to confirm / reject) that if SF (FS, specifically) participates in a blitz, his role is to take over from LB's protection against a pass. Especially passes to TE, because CB's are still covering WR's.
Have I failed completely my Football Tactics 101 test?

EDIT: Wait a minute...! Whose SF is getting so many interceptions and how many (9) per season? SF-NINE-rs? Puzzle solved!
Just pun-ting, obviously. Still hoping for a serious point of view, with those blitzes.
