Hello; I'm inquiring as the manual says that a K/P can play in a different position and not have a penalty; my question is do they still benefit from Strong Leg while on the roster in a different position?

Good question.
I would say yes, because if no penalty aplies for the K to be the P or vice-versa, then the player will benefit from the trait.

It was to my understanding that a K/P could play any position without penalty; namely OL and that's why I'm asking if the trait works too.

No. He can't. Only K/P.
If he's not a K or P, then he will get penalty for out of position if his "change position til x date" expires.

The rules does not say that.

RULE:
There are some exceptions:

1.) There is no skill lowering as long as the player is within his position switch period

2.) There is no penalty when playing Kickers as Punters and vice versa

3.) There is no penalty when playing a player as Gunner, Kick returner, Special Team Blocker or Special Team Tackler, no matter what his original position will be

1 means, as long as he can switch freely, he can play everywhere on the depth chart
2 means, you can play a players on K position as P and a P as K.
3 means, you can play and other player as G, KR, STB and STB.

So, a K as OL, no.
A OL as K, no.

And of course no trait if that K plays OL and has strong leg.

Thank you and this makes sense!

48.5 Kicking w/ 49.1STR and Strong Leg didn't make much sense to ve missing much of any kicks lol

Thanks for the clarification!

I have played against someone using other positions as their K and P and presumably just taking the performance hit on their special teams kicking capabilities. I can't think that's good value though as 53 players is surely enough for the other positions so presumably they made a mistake. I only raise the point to say that someone has done it, not that I think it's a good idea.

Sure there are teams, using for example OLs as K or P and just avoid the 100K+ wage for those players and accept the OOP on their performance.
That's a management decision. That's wat you play for here, making such decisions.

Literally the exact reason why the 49STR kicker is at the top of my draft list b/c there aren't any other players with high INT and TW.

I'm not even planning on playing him as a K ever.

My dilemma is more associated with developing the individual player's AGI but also keeping wages as low as possible as my 48.5K guy who's a 4.5* rating is only 50k right now and he'd be in the hundreds of thousands if I developed them with max AGI and other skills.
