Actually, I always cheer for France (when Germany is eliminated), but today I'm also a little bit for Portugal. Christiano Ronaldo had a great career. He didn't deserve to play his last game in the world's ugliest stadium. Nobody deserves that.

I expected a lot from that game, too. I am obviously not a connoisser, because I was grossly disappointed, except may be parts of the OT. To be honest, I dont get what those experts find in the game filled with foul play on both sides, zero play with flair I'd expect from pre-competition favourites. Not to mention good chances finished with a shot on goal, not widely off or clearly wasted like that lob by German forward - on the fingers of one hand.
By comparison, the Portugal - France game was much more exciting, to me personally. Even less shots, that's true. But at least the bones were not the primary interest of either side, and while I wouldn't call it a flair, yet the offensive play of both teams was way more interesting than that by Spain and Germany. EDIT: One argument to the above. Pepe vs Kroos. Which of them would you have expected to concentrate on opponents' legs, and which one - showing the signs of football genius?
