Played my first game on Sunday. 30C heat in the UK.
Had a bit of nervousness, but after my first 1 or 2 big hits, i settled right into it.....The big thing we found as a team was how hot it go in our pads during a game. We have scrimmaged and practiced in pads, but a real game is so much more intense Even as a center I managed to force a fumble from their kick returner.....He should have called a fair catch, but didn't so i flattened him! All in all, this is THE best sport in the world! |

Great job on your first game! I'm glad you enjoy football so much. And in honor of my high school's center, I ask to watch what you eat before games. Although he was an all-conference center, his first name became the verb for his most memorable performance. He vomited during the game and "ralphing" became a goal to avoid!

I play for an Amature team in the UK. It was our first game against an established team....They have been together for 3 years. We will have been a unit 1 year in September.
I always watch what i eat, i'm an 'atheletic' center. Im only 230lb (102Kg), Im quick and tall, I just happened to be the only volunteer for the position 7 months ago. I enjoy the game that much that I average 40-50 snaps a day at work to practice the movement and to get into my block. My only regret is im 28 and probably only have a few years in me, unlike a lot of the other players in my team who are 18-22 who have years left |
