I heard that it is possible to sign a TM player to a contract in the last 24 hours if no one has bid on them. How do I do that? Where is this magical button?

I'm not sure, but I think that only counts for free agents.

Find a free agent with less than 24hrs to go on the TM, click on him and you'll see this :-
Since your team uses the contract mode you are allowed to enter negotiations with this player. On successful negotiation the player will enter your Senior Team no matter of his age. [start] <- - - - - click here |
