Welcome to Week 8 Game of the Week

This weeks game sees Severnside Cardinals @ Totoras Patriots. The cardinals are currently one win behind a wildcard place with a 4-3 record, whereas the Patriots sit bottom of the NC South with a 2-4 record.

This should be an intriguing game with Beckos predicting a 12 point win for the Patriots. Certainly nothing is guaranteed, we have sent out our reporters to interview the respective head coaches for this potentially pivotal game for both sides.

We have heard back from JonatanRiver of Totoras Patriots who provided answers for the following question.

Question 1. This season sees you with a 2-4 record but what's not made clear by that is you've had a hard fixture list so far. You have a couple of wins including an impressive win over Hucknall Broncos. Do you think your team is currently as good as in previous seasons?

No, I think I've taken a couple of steps back. I am entering a rebuilding process, so I do not expect much for the coming seasons. I have a very tough division, need replacements at some positions and I think this is the best time to do that.

Question 2. At the moment you are outside the playoff positions, do you think with your remaining fixtures you can achieve a sixth successive playoff season?

The playoffs are not a target for this year. I do not have enough talent.

Question 3. What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?

The key, in my view, will be in my offense against my opponents defense. I've been having trouble capitalising on situations where I can score points. If I can show progress in that respect, I think I have a chance to win the game.

We have heard back from passionatelad of Severnside Cardinals who provided answers for the following question.

Question 1. This season sees a rebuilding phase for you team, how is that going?

Frustrating obviously. It's going to take a few seasons to get areas of my team back where it should be. Some are fine and other areas are behind so the overall stats are a little misleading. I'm working on it but it's going to take time.

Question 2. At the moment you are outside the playoff positions, do you think with your remaining fixtures you can achieve a sixth successive playoff season?

I know I'm looking at least 3 more league defeats this season plus I play Parma Horses again who's has already beat me easily so it's going to be tough. I really don't know if I can Make it this season. The adjustments I made a couple games ago to my DC will hopefully help but Totoras, Flerscham and Parma are results I need to get me through. But I knew it was going to be an uphill struggle before the season started which Makes things easier on me.

Question 3. What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?

My defence. Currently As I said before it's at a lower standard to where it needs to be so it's hoping it has enough to get me through.

So there you have it. Two managers that are in the process of rebuilding teams. Both teams have been in each of the previous five seasons playoffs. Both teams need to start stringing some wins together.

This game is winnable for both and could be pivotal as the season unfolds.

Thanks to both managers for an insight to their teams and good luck to both.

Or

Wow, that's only the second time both teams meet in a league game...
