Hello all and welcome baaaack to the Game of the Week show!! After last week's clash of titans we are turning our attention to a clash of mere mortals. But does this mean less entertainment you may ask?! No of course not. It's gonna be great! (<- see what I did there, hope Pete doesn't notice )

I will now give the floor to our very own in-house RZA Analyst smokerteer:

Xu Da @ Wolflings

These are two teams that can mathematically qualify for the playoffs. The jury remains split on Xu Da, Wolfings seem more suited to a playoff run next season.
Xu Da are hoping to come off a three game losing streak. It has seen them fall from leading AC South to third place. They trail Flow Gaming by one win and 29 points but winning AC South remains Xu Da's most realistic chance of ending up in the playoffs.
Wolfing have spent big this season and now have a competitive squad that saw them beat AC South leaders Flow Gaming. Yet performances remain inconsistent. They don't lose against the weak teams but have trouble against the more average ones. This game is certainly winnable on paper but whether Wolfings can pull off the win is uncertain. They could make the playoffs mathematically but it is an unrealistic goal. The rest of the season may seem them experimenting to see what works, and see if their new crop of players can be utilised to their fullest.
Xu Da could really use a win to keep their season alive, Wolfings will be trying to erect a team capable of challenging the AC North next season. I see this as two teams missing a lot of chances, a fascinating low-scoring battle. For me the last field-goal wins this.

Xu Da 7 Wolflings 9

Our beat writer met up with Hongwu who invited him into his office and was very open and friendly but also seemed very focused on the task at hand, the rebuild of the Xu Da franchise:

Question 1.
As you have said so yourself you have been in a rebuild mode for a few seasons now. A portion of fans are however becoming disillusioned with the time it takes to do this and are questioning your management. What do you have to say to this?

We have a young team, and we need to be patient. We wanted to build through the draft and our world-class youth program, and the foundation has been set. Now, we need to allow time for our players to gain experience and skills. Rebuilding is never going to be instantaneous. It takes sustained hard work over a period of time. We are already beginning to see improvements, and the results should be coming in gradually over the seasons to come.

Question 2.
QB Zhào Thí has been on fire this season however he has only a 55% completion rate. If you look at the stats of your top two TE's it is easy to see why this is not higher: 44 drops vs 75 catches! Does this concern you and are they under pressure to perform better

With our rebuilding and movement towards youth, we moved one of our best tight ends ever to wide receiver to give more game experience to our young players. We are starting a rookie and have two rookie back-ups who also get a lot of playing time. So mistakes will be made and we just need to be patient. Our young guys at tight end have a lot of potential, and our hard work will pay off in the seasons to come.

Question 3.
What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?

We need to play Xu Da football: control the ball, play defense and excel on special teams. If we do that, that should be good enough!

Next our beat writer ventured in the lair of the Wolf where wolflings received him with a nice hot cappuccino and again a very open and friendly attitude to the media. A very good week for our writing team on the road:

Question 1.
You have not lost many games by a big margin and edged a few that were close. This one looks like it's going to be another nailbiter. Does this also affect your play calling knowing that risky plays or defensive formations could cost you the game as it did against the Steelers? Basically will you adjust your PB for this game?

I am going to continue with riskier plays for now to judge whether they are worth the risk. Also I doubt we have much of a chance against a team like Xa Du unless we push the envelope

Question 2.
Your kickers score only 76% and 66% of their FG attempts. How much is that a concern to you and are they under pressure to perform better?

My new kicker, Aurelius Leuti, is one of eight players recently acquired from Chesterton Cheese. He should start to perform better now he has settled into the team.

Question 3.
What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?

I have focussed on building a strong pass defence which may help against Xa Du.

That's a big win for Wolfings. Xu Da's season is now in serious doubt. Didn't see this game turning out to be so one sided

This is a shock result I would say. Just like the real NFL there are many unexpected results in Thunder 1.1!
