US has only tested so little people that their official stats can be ignored.
Re Corona, most deaths are in age group of 70+. Last time I checked it was 1% that was younger than 50. Source: Age distribution of Covid-19 deaths If you have are older and have a medical condition, take real good care. If you are not this then be sensible and apply common sense, especially when dealing with older people. That is my take on it. Will it impact S38 in RZA? I am playing a team tomorrow that has stadium of 11.877 so it seems they already took precautionary measures to prevent large groups of people from gathering Last edited on 2020-03-13 21:44:04 by Cheesehead |

So in Italy, do you know lots of people that have contracted the virus? It seems like in most places, they are resigned to the fact that 50-70% of the people will eventually get it, but they are trying to slow the spread such that the healthcare system is not overwhelmed. Steve SD Blitz |

In the beginning in order to find from where the virus has started to affect people a lot of tests have been done also to asymptomatic people. Now the test is done only to people with symptoms in order to know if they have COVID-19. Solana_Steve wrote:

I am not a doctor so this is only my opinion... It is a virus and you cannot stop it in any manner If we could we do not have to deal with the regular flu every year. We can try to mitigate the emergency, search for a vaccine , but not more in my opinion. The only hope is get the virus and do not need an intensive care unit, but in case it is needed at least it is available. Last edited on 2020-03-15 15:37:30 by PJRAVENS |

Just thought I'd check in here...seems like in the US, we're pretty much at the peak ...maybe a week or two afterwards. Some states are starting to open up.
As a whole, the country seems to survived the virus okay except for some large metropolitan areas: New York, Detroit, Chicago etc. Also, some nursing homes got pretty devastated (if you have older parents/grandparents this is very scary). Hopefully, we wouldn't go backwards after the re-opening of these states. Economically, the country has shifted from a strong economy to one with growing unemployment (which is going higher every week). Hopefully, as things get under control and people return to a more normal lifestyle, that will improve. But some sectors and industries will probably be near fatally wounded - - cruise ship industry is in dire straights and the airline industry will continue to suffer (i'm guessing governments will have to bail them out to keep them afloat). As for sports, I think they will try to launch in the summer (mid-June perhaps). But I'm guessing without fans...I don't know when we'll again see 60k-100k people packing a stadium for a football game. Hope everyone is doing well. It's strange, I know only one person personally that has gotten the virus (he's lives in the southeast and his spouse is a doctor and unfortunately contracted it that way. Fortunately, he's recovering). Steve SD Blitz |

I knew one person. Not old, no comorbidity.
He's dead. Being worried about the Econmy or business or money is just a big a nonsense. That's a crime ! Last edited on 2020-05-03 22:26:25 by Drogon |
