The Bootcamp Cup is over again, 5 weeks fly by in a hurry these days. We have a winner, and here's one last look at the final game that happened yesterday:

Hemet Hooligans 35:19 BobBoy Magpies

The Magpies got the Ball first and opened the game with 4 consecutive completions by their QB for 27 Yards. But before they could get into any kind of rhythm they were stopped by the Defense of the Hemet Hooligans. And right from their first offensive possession the visiting team looked like they were on a mission, marching down the field scoring the first TD with a balanced 13 Plays 90 Yards Drive. After that the Defense of the Hooligans stopped the Offense of the Magpies time and time again, even held them to a FG after an Interception on their own 29 Yard line. They did not let the Magpies go on a real scoring drive until after the break, when the home team managed to score a FG on their sole possession in Q3 and their first TD with only 3:34 minutes to go in Q4. And while the Defense took the ball away from their opponent, the Offense of the Hooligans showed a very diverse and far more balanced outing than at the beginning of this cup, even running in a TD in Q3 with 8 consecutive Rushing Plays for 68 Yards. In the end it was an all around impressive performance by the Hemet Hooligans, the new champion of the Bootcamp Friendly Cup.

I LOVE the progress the Hooligans made over the course of this Cup. I would not, of course, put it on my input that they got away from passing all game, but it seems apparent that their success comes with having a more balanced playbook compared to their first game in this tournament. They ran the ball a bit more each game, and although they did not win their games in shootout fashion, they always controlled ball and clock, thus winning the clever way. And this translated to success in their league games, too. They have not lost a match-up in the Monarchs-league since the beginning of October and will play for the title on Tuesday against the Trnava Saints. If they continue to play as balanced offensively and especially as uncompromising defensively as they did yesterday they’ll have great chance to end this season winning more than the one title.

And that’s all, folks, for this Newbie Bootcamp Friendly Cup. I hope everyone had fun and maybe learned a thing or two. If you have questions please feel free to send a message, I’ll be trying to answer as helpful as possible.

Enjoy the offseason, and have a good start to season 54
