Second game in the Sea Devils league, second loss for the HAMBURG SEA LIONS. Which translates to already being the worst start to a season since S56. They started 0–3 that season, after losses to the Gilets Jaunés, Rio Galaxy and the Surnise City Prairie Dogs. We were fortunate to get a few minutes of Play Coordinator Till Luckmans time after the game to ask some questions:

SDSC: Thank you for your time, Till. Let's get right to it: The last time you started that bad was in S56. What's missing right now?

Till: Thank you. Well, what's missing? Experience, and there's still a lot of skill to be learned by the young squad. You don't have to look any further as to everything that happened in the first quarter. It was men against boys in every which sense. 22yo Bodo Schubert get's beaten by 31yo David Herea? 22yo Willi Jäger has no chance against 32yo Catalin Mitrea? Well, d'uh.

SDSC: You sure dug a hole for yourself in these first 15 Minutes. All the more encouraging it has to be what you saw in the second quarter.

Till: Indeed it was. Overall the squad played really tight, if you put those miscues on the deep touchdowns aside. And you cannot oversee the fact that we should have kicked more instead of going for it on 4th and forever. That maybe wouldn't have made all the difference on the scoreboard, but it sure has a different overall feel to score once in a while. That's some playcalling issue which has to be attended to.

SDSC: The attendance to this first home game of the season, against one of the most renowned teams of the league even, was OK, but far from sold out. Do you think the heat these days affected the spectators? Maybe even your squad?

Till: Well, I guess that's something we have to get accustomed to. And no, I don't think it affected the squad. The Ravens came to play in the same conditions, and maybe they have played more games in very warm stadiums, but that was not the difference today.

SDSC: Worst start since S56, as we said... but you were able to turn things around then to finish the season with a record of 9–7. You still had Nicolò Stanzetti, though. Your current QB-room did not experience something like this before. How do you think they'll handle this sitution?

Till: Bryant and Alfredo are handling the situation very good. They both are aware that this season will be a completetly different adventure than the last and put in everything they can. They are, of course, no Nicolò Stanzetti, who is a member of our own Hall of Fame for a reason. But don't forget that he was already well past 30 when we turned that season around back then, and the squad had played a lot more football together overall. As I said earlier: It comes down to experience and playing time. That's what we're lacking, and which will only resolve over time.

We're hungry, though... and we will try to find ways to get the best out of the players we have.

SDSC: Thank you for your time.

Week 2

BALANDIS BLASTS BACK

Enough in the Tank’ – QB Fires Back After 0–2 Start

Voiceover – Kanar : Former Alpine Ducks Franchisee Owner, now, SDSC Analyst:

“The Manta Rays may be winless, but don’t tell Edgaris Balandis he’s done. After two straight losses to powerhouses Michigan and the Runners, the 33-year-old QB is catching heat—not just for his play, but the new purple hair do.

Captain RedZone Rick asked him point-blank if he’s still got what it takes, and Balandis? He didn’t flinch.

Captain RedZone Rick:
“Edgaris, tough start to the season. You’ve started the season 0-2. Are The Rays a one season wonder? Has the bubble burst? What’s the mood like in that locker room right now?”

Edgaris Balandis:
“It’s not where we want to be, Rick. No one likes being 0-2. But suggesting the bubble has burst is disrespectful, lets keep some perspective. We knew the schedule was brutal out of the gate. Michigan and the Runners—those are two former Elite sides. So we’re not hitting the panic button.”

Captain RedZone Rick:
“Fans are frustrated, and to be honest, some pundits are starting to raise questions about you specifically—your age, your arm, the purple hair! Do you still have the ability to lead this team. What have you got left in the tank?

Balandis (smirking):
“You wanna know what I’ve got left in the tank? Enough. Enough to silence every desk jockey fantasy football nerd with a hot take and a asthma inhalor. This arm may be 33, but it’s still got the zip. And the purple hair? That’s staying until we’re back in the playoffs.”

(pauses, looking straight down the camera)
“You want to doubt me possums? Fine. Just don’t be the same ones cheering when we flip the script. AGAIN!

The Rays welcome Divisional Rivals Derbent Convicts in Week 3...

Naughty possums poking fun at our overly mature QB. Some say the Stig sent him a zimmer frame after the Runner's game. Actually we all chipped in and later sent a bouquet of gladiolus after watching the deep fake interview.

Week 3

Traders and Bautzen send message

Week 3 saw the entire Sea Devils organisation put on notice. Bautzen and Traders are here to play. Both sides have Divisional games against arguably their biggest rivals for the title... and dismissed them as though swatting a fly.

Both also did it in their opponents back yards!

This one was over by halftime — and the Warriors faithful knew it. The boos rang loudly around Fillmore South as Bautzen were rampant.

Five first-half touchdowns. Zero response. A shocking 35–0 lead left the home crowd stunned — and eventually hostile.

Warriors QB Derrick Andrew had got the boos started early, tossing two picks in the first five minutes, both eventually returned for Touchdowns. From there, the Ghosts unleashed the full playbook, turning a top-tier showdown into a showcase of dominance.

Traders rout Corsairs

The Traders made the relatively short trip to Vancouver to renew their rivalry with Brucehums side. There are many chapters to come im sure in this already storied rivalry however none may be as emphatic as Season 61:Week3.

Michigan managed just 80 more total yards — all on the ground. But that was all they needed. The run game wasn’t just effective — it was foundational, chewing up yardage, clock, and Brucehum’s hopes in equal measure.

Behind a punishing O-line and a backfield that refused to be tackled, The Traders scored in every single quarter. No let-ups. No mercy. Just relentless execution from a team that looked built for a deep postseason run.

In a surreal twist, former U.S. President Donald Trump was in attendance and wasted no time jumping in front of the cameras postgame.

“They played tremendous because I was here. Everyone’s saying it,” Trump told reporters. “Stabler — he called me up, he needed tactical advice, I told him, very simple — run the ball better than they do. Great advice. Everyones saying it. Passing? Overrated. Very risky. You run, you win. That’s what we did at Wharton. Everybody knows it.”

Doubling down in the postgame scrum, Trump escalated his claims of influence to historic levels:

“Before Donald, there was no run game. I invented the modern running game. Ask anyone. Total game-changer. Now everyone’s doing it — you’re welcome Michigan.”

While football historians might take issue with that version of events, Michigan certainly made the ground game look revolutionary on Saturday. With bruising efficiency and clock-chewing drives, the Traders left Vancouver gasping for air.

Trump concluded his comments by offering to personally coach the Traders next week — “if they need me.”

Till next time...

HAMBURG SEA LIONS Quarterback Bryant Stover was available to the media after the loss at Lambeau-Millerntor Stadium and had this to say about the questionable decision by the coaching staff to let him play second fiddle to Alfredo Richter today:

"It is a team effort every time, and it does not matter whom of us plays first... we usually get an equal amount of reps during a game. It's something to get used to, though, going into the game standing on the sideline."

On a notion that maybe the coaching staff withheld his abilties to let him play against a more tired opponent he said:

"No, that wouldn't be fair to Alfredo, no? He has made an equal amount of good throws as I did over the course of the season thus far. And even if it was that way: I can only throw the ball and am, as he is, not able to control what's happening after."

Wow, did he really take a shot at the franchise-WR Dau Ngige there, who was not able to make an endzone-catch late in the 4th quarter?

"We will look into what went wrong, as we usually do, and will take actions to get better. We have a young team, me being one of the oldest. It's really great to lead such a squad who's hungry and does what's needed on the field to the best of it's abilties. We just have to avoid making mistakes, and it will get much better. Thank you!"

With that he turned and went back to the locker room. It did sound a little forced what he had to say, but we guess it's because of them just not being used to losing that much. We'll keep you updated...
