Vancouver Corsairs lose a nailbiter at Michigan Weasels 16-19 effectively ending the West race. They should have previewed the kickers as this was the decider. Weasel kicker (and former Corsair) Antoine Salisbury was perfect on the day going 4 for 4. He also connected the extra point . That is correct, one singular extra point. Shocking as it may seem the Weasels and Corsairs each had only one Tuddie today. Anyway, back to the story. Corsair Kicker, Gaylord Shapiro did not have a good day. 3 for 3 with two misses from 48 and a shocking miss from the Weasel 3 yard line.

Bergen Bruisers Visiting Sheffield Wednesday was another matter altogether. The Owls offense had eight touchdowns on their way to asserting their place on the East throne 59-24. While still a match at halftime 28-21, the Bruisers could only put up 3 for their 2nd half effort.

What does it mean?
Answer is that the divisions have been pretty much decided. I know it is theoretically possible for Sheffield and Michigan to not win their divisions. But, it isn't going to happen. So they join St. Pauli and the Runners as division winners.
Seeding right now
1. West Michigan Weasels 13-0 420
2. North St. Pauli Packers 12-1 391
3. South Social Distance Runners 12-1 360
4. East Sheffield Wednesday 11-2 403
5. Vancouver Corsairs 10-3 191
6. Bergen Bruisers 9-4 182
7. Manta Rays 8-5 185
8. HAMBURG SEA LIONS 8-5 166

Bruisers will win all 3 of their remaining games against very easy opponents to finish 12-4. So it ain't over for the title.

I could lose all 3 of my final games with a tough finish.

Black Knights
Social Distance Runners
Copenhagen Chargers

All capable of beating me, with Runners almost certain.

It ain't over yet.

Gaylord could not cope with the pressure of playing in Gaylord.

This is a first in a series on teams that didn't make the playoffs. All but 2 of you are from season 57 or later. Congratulations on your progress. You all are the strength of this league that I am proud to be in.
The first to respond to my questionnaire was Overpowered.

Minnesota Silver Foxes 672ELO
Founded S57 2024-09-18
Owner: Overpowered Country U.S.A.
144,300 Seat Stadium: RyanTeg Stadium
Seniors avg Age and total wages: 24.7/$1.989M
Coaches: HC76 and 6 AC's QB 64, RB69, WR64, DL73, LB71, CB64
Proudest moment: “My proudest moment is learning some of my problems for myself and fixing future problems before they can possibly (who knows still might happen) hurt me in S62.”
Worst Moment: "No-Punts Catastrophe...I mean..like..I didn't mean for that to happen!"
Changes:
1. Overpowered has promised different beverages as he was hurt being ranked last on the Sea Devil Beer Ranking.
2. Two retirements Gentile, Wyman and 3 others leaving team via TM Woodworth, Bilj and Larson.

This team is going in the right direction. Finances are in order if free agent spending stays in check.

Part 2 of the series on Non-playoff teams cuz we have heard too much about those playoff squads.
Downriver Seals ELO 478
Founded S58 2024-10-25
Owner: kummo Country: Finland
144,300 Seat Stadium: Kitro Stadium
Seniors avg Age and total wages: 22.4/360k
Coaches: HC 77 and 4 AC's OL77, DL76, LB76, CB74
Proudest moment of S61: "Seeing youth academy prospect Antero Moilanen developing with 40 intelligence, 41 teamwork, 48+ strength, 46 speed, 3½ star talent and already 25 skills on three different non-physical skills while only being 20 years old. Probably best youth-pull for the team this far."

Worst moment of S61: "Accidentally drafted wrong player on round 2 on draft between seasons 60-61 because they had identical names."

Changes for S62: "Might do my 1st trades during next season (not sure if buying, selling or both, depends on needs for the team and whether draft overspills some positions so we have to sell extras out)"

This team is putting away huge bank this year with only $1M in coach and player wages. That fully built stadium is cranking out cash. With a full media center and fanshop =>$150M a year. This is how you build a huge war chest.
Only 9 non-Finns on the roster. Kinda rooting for a national team here. At least 2 years away from the playoffs, but this build will pay dividends soon with the cash to go out and buy some upgrades. ELO is relatively flat and will remain that way until more coaches and some Transfer Market talent join the team.

Part 3 of the teams that make Sea Devils great.

Northern Storm ELO 655
Founded S58 2024-11-25
Owner: EAMCI Country: United Kingdom
144,300 Seat Stadium: Deepdale Arena
Seniors avg Age and total wages: 23.7/$3.615M
Coaches: HC66 and 9 AC's QB 65, RB58, TE66, WR60, OL59, DL54, LB61, CB62, SF60
Proudest moment? Last season’s CB1 Severino DuPond switching to LB & already coming up with crucial plays… or first round QB Marion White showing glimpses of the skills we drafted him for… hard to choose.

Worst moment? Almost every game. It’s been our worst season on record. Maybe we could have competed, but when I saw our schedule I knew this should be a season for building, no chance of success!

Changes? With luck we will bring several players to the peak of their physical potential this season. If that happens then next season we’ll focus on skills. End of S62 several players move into their prime & we aim to compete.
The Storm has been quietly building their squad and the upward ELO trend doesn't lie. The Northern Storm will be ready to compete for the playoffs in S62 but the real run is in S63.

Continuing series on teams that make Sea Devils NC great.
Manta Rays ELO 803
Founded S57 2024-08-11
Owner: Wolfing Country: Australia
144,300 Seat Stadium: Reef Island Resort
Seniors avg Age and total wages: 25.5/$3.197M
Coaches: HC72 and 7 AC's QB 72, RB71, TE65,WR65, OL65, DL62, LB71
“The worst moment of season 61 was learning that our QB1 Edgaras Balandis would retire at the end of the season. It was expected but he will be sorely missed."

"The proudest moment was signing our new QB1 Dusty Humes. He has big shoes to fill but we have high hopes. In particular Dusty has 50 vision with a natural leader bonus of 5%. It will be interesting to see if Dusty has the leadership to bring some magic for season 62.”

The Manta Rays had a very strong season just missing the playoffs at 10-6. That average age, high ELO and the many Free Agents that Wolfing has brought in mean that this team is being built for right now. They should be considered a strong playoff contender for S62.

CONTINUATION OF THE PROFILE OF NON-PLAYOFFS TEAMS:
HAMBURG SEA LIONS
Founded S48 2022-08-07
Owner: Chrill Country: Germany
144,300 Seat Stadium: Hammer Sports Park
Seniors avg Age and total wages: 23.1/$2.549M
Coaches: HC92 and 7 AC's QB 59, FB75, WR69, OL81, DL83, LB86, CB65
Proudest moment of S61?
Overall, I think, we can feel proud of finishing 11–5 in our first Sea Devils season. You may recall that I previewed us going 8–8 or at best 9–7, so winning even two more games and being on the cusp of reaching the postseason does speak for us. If you’re looking for specific games there are two, although one comes with an asterisk, being the home win against the St. Pauli Packers. It did feel good to beat them, but reading that their manager did not really take the game serious really soured that one for me. I did, in fact, even think about making this my worst moment for a bit, because I still struggle with what to make of it. The one game that I really feel proud of the accomplishment is the win against Sheffield. That’s when I first had the feeling of belonging to the league and being able to compete.

Worst Moment of S61
The tough home loss against the Bergen Bruisers, because we were close. And despite it being the second home game of the season with still many games to play, this one turned out to be crucial in our surge for the playoffs later in the season, as the Bruisers were constantly at minimum one game in front… that one game that we lost against them. Another one of those tough losses deserves another mention, although it wasn’t in the league: Our defeat by the Nanaimo Bluebacks on the last play of the game was the wrong kind of kick, too. Almost literally, as it was our Kicker that missed an easy 30-Yard-FG in the first quarter of that game that would have us being tied at the end… and who knows what would have happened in overtime. But alas… that’s the way the games are played, no?

Any changes for next season?
There won’t be any to speak of. Two players will retire after the season, with one of them going directly to our Hall of Fame. Other than that we will continue to develop our young squad. The Defense is set up to be fast and hard hitting, now they must learn the nuances. And on Offense it’s all about continuing to grow a dominant O-Line. Once that’s there it will make all the things we already do good to get the ball in the end zone so much easier. So the biggest change we’ll make next season will be the re-upgrading of our Youth Academy to Premium. We had that, but downgraded during our time in the Elite. Now we made enough room in that facility to take another shot at developing young talent even better. We’re quite curious to see where this gets us.

THE HAMBURG SEA LIONS HAD A GREAT SEASON, JUST MISSING THE PLAYOFFS AND CONTENDING IN A REBUILD YEAR. THIS IS A SEASON 62 PLAYOFF TEAM FOR CERTAIN. CHRILL CAN PLAY THIS GAME AND IT IS AN HONOR TO HAVE HIM HERE IN THE NC. THIS FRANCHISE IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT HERE IN SEADEVILS. (Warning! The all caps joke will never grow old for me.)
