I have been with my partner for over 35 years. He was born in Köln (Germany), but his parents moved to Girona (Catalonia - Spain) when he was 3 years old and stayed to live in Catalonia. My partner's grandfather had to live through World War II. My father-in-law used to tell us that he was a good man, that he loved his family dearly, and that when the Nazi army compulsorily recruited him, he never wanted to talk to anyone about this difficult stage of his life. Grandfather Axel, like many Germans of his time, would be identified today as a "nazi" because he fought with Hitler's army. People might say that he could have chosen not to participate. It's easy to talk when you don't have a wife and a small child to feed and you don't see any other reasonable way out. I tell you this small story so that you try not to equate the State of Israel, with all the atrocities it has committed, with all Israeli citizens. I am convinced that there are many "grandfather Axels" who are forced to follow the prevailing current, to avoid being considered "traitors" to the homeland and for their entire family to suffer the consequences. Not all Germans were Nazis, just as not all Spaniards were followers of Franco, nor are all Israelis followers of the Netanyahu government. |

Not everyone who fought in Hitler's army was a "Nazi" in the modern sense of the word. The term Nazi refers specifically to members or active supporters of the NSDAP and its ideology. The Wehrmacht, on the other hand, was the regular German army between 1935 and 1945. Millions of men served in it because of mandatory conscription, not because they were ideologically committed to National Socialism. Many soldiers were simply ordinary men caught up in a totalitarian system where refusal meant imprisonment or even execution. Some were indifferent, others opposed the regime but had no safe way to show it. Only a smaller group were convinced Nazis or perpetrators of war crimes. Exactly, fighting in the German army doesn't make you a Nazi, just as being Israeli doesn't make you a genocidal murderer of the Palestinian people. It's necessary to differentiate things to avoid being unfair to people. |

you expect too much with all this propaganda put in from parts of media, and more important by involved officials. And this "if your not with us, you're against us" isn't helpful either
