I just had a thought, which might be a nice suggestion.

I always have problems with the 22 YA slots.
Fine, the idea is to have that limitation to force decisions and to limit the amount of players.

But why not expand the slot amout for money per extra slot per Financial Update?
Like a small amount for 1 extra, but for each extra it gets way more expensive every time, like 2 extra small amount + 2 times small amount.
At 3 we have 1 + 2 + 3, at 4 we have 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 and so on.

Example: team has 22 slots filled, no extra costs.
Team adds another player, now 23, extra costs per financial u p d a t e 5000.
Team adds another player, now 24, extra costs per financial u p d a t e 5000+10000.
Another add, extra costs 5000+10000+15000
And so on.

By that the Manager has more flexibility and still has to make decisions.

No changes on all other restrictions in YA.

This is going to be automatic? Like, you add the player and then the extra amount is paid on financial update; or you need to create the new slot prior to the addition of the player?

My idea was to have that automatic. Like if the amount of players exceeds 22 on financial update, the amount is to be paid.

Usually you add a player and don't fire him, except he is a bust right away.

But you are right, we likely would have to discuss, whether adding a player AFTER an u p d a t e and firing that or a different one BEFORE an u p d a t e does need extra treatment as well.

So maybe the idea is great to have the payment on the slot, not the player.
Like 'I want 23 slots' and if you want to reduce the slots, you have to order that and it is executed only after financial update? And adding is right away with the payment right away.

So it would be:
I want to add, press button, pay the extra.
Financial update, pay the extra
... until
I don't want the slot, oder the deduction by pressing the button
Financial update, pay the extra a last time and then the slot is reduced
next financial update, no extra for that (no reduced) slot

Another point on it: with the auto solution we would never have players under 21 yo, recently bought, being sent to the main team. The YA would have "unlimited" space for all these young players being bought out of TM.

That's a point. So once over 22, no direct transfer to YA for under 21 sounds right. Thanks for the hint.

look i like the idea my only pushback is the managers with a bunch of money will buy up the ya spaces making the game more unfair... maybe there could be an option to expand to 25 by paying 50 to 100k more a week but there does need to be a cap in place...

From My Point of view the cap is in the concepts with the exponential extra fee growth.
In the example the initial fee for the +1 Spot was 5000, for +2 5000+10000 = 15000, for +3 5000+10000+15000=30000, for +4 5000+10000+15000+20000=50000, for +5 5000+10000+15000+20000+25000=75000 and so on. At +10, which would be Not THAT many more players, it would be 275000, if I did calculate right. PER week. That‘ a lot. And maybe it should not be 5000 initial, but 10000? Then double the Numbers on the example and at +10 it would be 550000.
On top, the 6 Chancen on YA Promotions to senior stay as they are.

That is very important to note. One could have many players on YA but will still be limited by the promotion limit per season. So I think we will not see too much "abuse" of the paid YA cap.
