What does delete do in the Youth Pull? When do you use it?

You use it when you go seasons without a decent pull, hoping that when you add the remaining player that's left he's decent and maybe even has a trait.
Spoiler alert: This doesn't work. 
Seriously though, I have no idea why the option is there. |
