positions that are likely to reach that threshold quicker (such as RBs, WRs, CBs, QBs etc) are the best candidates.

Therefore, theoretically, Punters/Kickers are the best candidates for Franchising (if saving money is the sole aim).
However, I'd change my nationality to German and start cheering for Bayern Munich before I ever even dreamed of giving a Franchise contract to a K/P.

Depends on how high you plan on training punting and kicking

lol .... I'd like to train K/P's to the levels that Dark_Wing used to (i.e. approx 400 ) ...... but I'm way too tight to pay that kind of money.

So I sacrifice kicking/punting distance for bank balance

What else would be the aim of franchise contracts? Just being curious.

Does a kicker or punter make a significant difference in terms of performance between a skill level where his salary is affordable versus unaffordable?

Maybe for a kicker (i don't know)...but I doubt the extra yardage from a punter would make a lot of difference.

With your offense, having a great punter might be worthwhile... :-)

...for me, I sold my punter.
