Done mine already - their asking salaries are only going to get higher! (one of mine is now on 15k)

The reason I asked is that when I FIRST started here I made a mistake of using up my Franchise contracts on good players. Obviously the players I just got are better than those with the contracts. So now I am thinking about if I want to sell any of those players with the Franchise contract so I can use that on my new draft picks. Problem is, those players with the franchise contract aren't ones I want to part with...sigh. I might just end up making 2 year offers to the draft picks for a few years until the franchise tags open up...

Are franchise contracts different from regular contracts other than the length?

no, that is the only difference. The issue is that you can lock them into a contract where by the fifth year their salaries are far below what they would make if based on skills. It will just cost me more money to not have the franchise contracts. I'm sure that it won't be as costly as say if this happened in a few season from now where salaries could get pretty big.
