Cheshire Cats 21 - Leeds Celtics 3
The Cats average 6.5yds per carry as the Celtics Defensive Line implode, making only 7 tackles on 35 Rushing plays. In contrast The Cats DL make 13 tackles on 25 Rush plays, and the Cats CB’s ‘bend but don’t break’ against a 61% completion rate by Celtics QB Tuqiri.

N.I. Ravens 28 - BobKats 6
The Kats 4 CB’s don’t miss a tackle, but there’s nothing that can be done about the Carmanator’s accuracy – he completes 34 out of 52 throws. Even more impressively, the Ravens Defence shuts out the opposition completely in the second half - for the second week in a row.

The U.K Challenge Cup Final - Cheshire Cats @ N.I.Ravens

Ravens on Offence: RZA ratings - Rushing: Ravens 42.0 v Cats 42.5 / Passing: Ravens 43.2 v Cats 45.6
We all know the star of the Ravens Offence – QB Derek Carman. Actually, it’s more like the sun in the centre of their Universe: 119 TD’s and only 6 Ints. Their three RB’s have also picked up a very useful 86 Td’s between them. The Ravens attack like a virus – fast, un-relenting and overwhelming. They attack everywhere, not just a perceived weak spot. They are anchored by a very solid OL, with 10 rotating starters. To average over 29 points a game against such GREAT Defences as the Raiders, Cats, BobKats and the Hawks (great, great LB’s) is simply irresistible.
So what do the Cats do? The Cats came so close in Week 3, and their strongest unit appears to be their 4 very good LB’s, but a lot will reply on two other parts of the great sum of the Cats Defence: can their DL find some penetration against the Ravens OL. And secondly can their stellar talent CB Thies Cardon make a big play on the big day. One such play could have made all the difference in their last meeting, but compared to other megastars in the League, he is not an impact player, just a very solid CB.... this could be his moment

Cats on Offence:RZA ratings: Rushing: Cats 40.4 v Ravens 45.5 / Passing: Cats 43.0 v Ravens 49.7
QB Sang Schmidt is a very useful, neat and tidy passer with 18TD’s/1Int and a 61% pass completion rate. But the Cats aren’t really a passing Offence - it’s a very well coached and utilised option used to compliment the smash mouth Blocking of FB Blot and HB Rushing of McClendon. This Offence really delivers – in their Week 3 meeting against the Ravens, the Cats racked up 251yds and 4 scores to race out to 24 – 7 lead at halftime...... however they then hit a concrete wall. With some small adjustments and perhaps a touch of cunningness (is that a word?), the glory could be theirs on Wednesday.
The Ravens have Impact players with a capital ‘I’ everywhere. DL Freddy Giggs (11 sacks, 6 FF, 4 FR’s), LB Boswell (14 Ints), LB Troutman (9 Ints) and a truly frightening 36 Defensive TD’s....... in comparison the Cats defense (including Mr Cardon) have 16 Def TD’s. However, it’s the way that the Defence adjust as the game goes along which makes them formidable, you would be a brave man to bet against this unit being the game-breaker of the day.

THE CALL:
RZA give it very narrowly to the Ravens – 43.8 to 43.0, a poll of the other Challenge Cup participants also gave it very narrowly to the Ravens, and so the call is: Ravens by 3

The very best of luck to two very worthy combatants

The U.K Challenge Cup Final - Cheshire Cats @ N.I.Ravens

First Quarter
The Ravens are hotter than a sauna full of cheerleaders, scoring 14 points and controlling 12:40 secs of the clock. Ominously the Carmanator converts 5 (yes FIVE!) consecutive 4th Downs, including one for a 58yd TD

Second Quarter
It looks even worse for the Cats as the Ravens effortlessy Drive down to their opponents 11 yd line.... then HB McNeely fumbles the ball. The Cats brilliantly counter Drive to put 7 pts on the board, and pick up a further Field Goal as the match turns into a war of attrition. Critically though, the Cats fail to go for a second FG on the Ravens 19yd line as time expires.

Third Quarter
A BIG opening Drive from the Cats picks up 7pts, and the lead. Then their end of 2nd Quarter slip is reprieved as the Ravens fail on 4th down on the Cats 11yd line. The attrition continues, and as the quarter ends the Cats are Driving on the Ravens 41yd line

Fourth Quarter
The Cats continue the Drive to score a seven pointer to stretch their lead to 10. Then the remainder of this classic match is fought in the Trenches with each defence nullifying their opponents offence.

Final Score: Cheshire Cats 24 – N.I. Ravens 14

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHESHIRE CATS!!!!!!!

With many thanks to all the participants - I hope you've enjoyed it..... even just half as much as me!

P.S If there isn't another U.K. Cup before, I'll run a second U.K Challenge Cup same sort of time next season. It would be great in that event if you could all return too, and fingers crossed that there will be enough combatants to expand this or another competition to a 16 team Cup
