I started by going through the playbook line by line until I understood what was going on (a hot cup of tea helped).

The first bunch deal with 4th down situations, for different downs, distances, and times. Once I got my head around those, the started to come on.

The defensive playbook is simpler to understand, so starting there is not a bad idea.

I add plays for 2 reasons:

A) I have a 'brilliant' thought in the shower, "I'll bet I can trick a defense on 2nd and X by running/passing out of Y formation".

B) I've scouted an opponent and they always use a certain defensive formation against an offensive formation, and I want to try to exploit that. (Or they always run/pass out of a formation, and I want to set my defense up to stop them.) (you will want to remember to delete this one if you don't want to keep it for your next opponent!)

Supporters can have multiple playbooks, so I just copy my Standard to a new one for one-off gameplans.

playbook rules goes first.

You have playbook rules for punt and FG so the geme setting rule doesn´t matter. This is overruled by the playbook.

It is the same for other gameplays. If you set a rule in playbook any down any Quarter etc run Big I and s e l e c t in the game settings " 1st down mainly pass SG 2 2nd down mainly pass Wishbone and 3rd down Pro Set pass and run" you allways run with big I because of your playbook rule.

The game settings only important if there is no playbook rule
