I'm running a friendly series to test out some specific things on Offense and Defense. In my TEST playbook, I've got a setting to run the ball over "both flanks" based on Down/Distance/etc. Going through my most recent match, I found 3 instances where that setting should have been triggered, and I verified it with the Playbook Checker, but the Gamecenter says he was running over center twice and over right guard once.

I have 2 questions:
1) If I choose Play Direction is it not 100% equal to what I've chosen?
2) Could it be that the RB cut it up the middle rather than outside for this particular run because "the blockers crushed the Defense Line"?

1) yes, of course

2) There is no real "rethink your decision"-thing in the engine. Once a type of play was taken into account, it comes true.

Perfect! Thank you for your reply.

If the play doesn't go the way the playbook calls for, can we say that is the QB using Intelligence to change the play to what he thinks is a better option?

Yes and no. It is in - so yes, INT is a helper in this situation for the QB - , but not in a way I would call it "smart".

a dumb question ....when the QB decides to rush himself, is it because :-

(a) he thinks it's a good option
(b) he's checked his other options (TE/WR) and he sees nothing good, so his only option is to rush

Well, I would never accuse my QB of being smart. That's why I phrased it by saying "he thinks its a better option".

c) He decided to rush, by himself - without taking A or b into account

No, it is a sideline decision, he gets the command from there without knowing how the play will evolve
