there is for sure no automatic switch based on experience for a certain position, and the out of position penalty would hit that player the whole season. No, you have to switch manually his position.
We made this position change system for certain reasons, and by now I am not convinced to change it. I don't see a benefit for the gameplay it of it. |

Then again thinking of it during the off season in real life players get time to adjust and learn the new position. Before the even play a game.
So how about a reduce hit during the off season which would start from the season rollover and run till end the day before the first league game. Also I think switch position penalty should be less if switch happens from one defense position to other. But the penalty should still happen just not as bad. And if you would switch a player from O to D or D to O to the penalty should be more harsh than what it is now. |

Whats wrong with a compromise? Instead of a 50% decrease of TC/Mor why not a 25% decrease for those offseason switches?

A change to the system just softens up the existing ruleset.
I like the idea of having the manager think about a position change and have them work for such a change. Even a cut to half of the penalty would be too soft, since with the right faciilty you have those 25% up in 2-3 training including some friendlies. To build a bridge to real life, a player with a changed position will most of the time NOT play 100% in his new role, once the season starts. Sometimes the need seasons to be 100% (and sometimes it is a fail, which is not covered here.) |

But in real life comparing to semi pro not the pro because this sim run more like collage / semi pro than pros.
Players can postion all the time and fee very little change as long they have been giving the offseason to adust. Here a list of switching positions 1 for easy 5 for very hard DL to LB 2 DB 5 SF 4 LB TO DL 1 DB 4 SF 2 SF to DL 1 LB 2 DB 4 DB to DL 3 LB 3 SF 3 OL to QB 5 RB 5 TE 3 FB2 WR5 RB to QB5 OL4 FB2 WR3 TE3 TE TO QB5 OL2 RB3 FB1 WR2 FB to QB5 OL2 RB2 TE1 WR3 WR to QB5 OL4 RB3 TE2 FB3 QB to OL5 WR3 TE4 FB3 RB3 |

I just joined yesterday so if i say something moronic just ignore me. What if you wanted to convert a RB to a FB. Would, or should, there be a penalty on that. If the skills are there, ie blocking, all you are really doing is taking the ball out of his hands.

This position change penalty was added to prevent managers from switching positions "every day". The penalties are hard enough to prevent managers from doing this, but soft enough to allow for a change on a few positions.
This is why I don't think right now we need a change here. This is no final "no". |

As long as the periad is not over you can switch. After that it cost the penalty. |
