I am not sure if it is a bug or suggestion.
Example: 10:59 3 and 2 to go on opp 44,... forward progress: no gain (Big I formation vs. 5-3-3) 10:29 (P) punts the ball from opp 44 for 26, this was a 10 yards return 10:21 1 and 10 to go on own 28,... 44-26+10=28 So in my opinion in the current system, the Punter punts the ball from the LoS. Maybe it is only a visual thing but normally the Punter stays 10 yards or something like that behind the LoS. An other example from the first bowl game today: Bowl Q4 10:22 Evaristo Rubio (P) punts the ball from opp 32 for 35, this is a touchback Either it was a 35yrd + the distance between punter and LoS punt or it couldn´t be a touchback. There is a different calculation for the FG Example 14:01 3 and goal to go on opp 7 forward progress: no gain (Shotgun 2 WR vs. 5-3-3) 13:32 Kicker (K) kicks the ball for the Fieldgoal, 24 yard Fieldgoal is good So 7 yrds + Endzone + distance between kicker and LoS Maybe it is only a visual thing and the correct length of the punt is hidden or there is a mistake in the calculation. A punt at the LoS isn´t correct in my opinion. Could this be changed? |

It is all fine here, believe me. The punter is 7 yards behind the LOS, the engine knows that and takes it into account.
The touchback: it was 35 + 7 yards long, so 3 yards in the endzone - and resulted in a touchback Last edited on 2012-05-08 14:21:21 by pete |

Punts are normally measured from the LOS, not the spot of the kick. The current system seems correct to me.

Everything works correct here from my understanding, it's conform to the rules of the NFL and GFL.
Offense is at 50: - punt to opp 10 => 40 yards punt, regardless from the point the ball actually was kicked from - field goal => 67/68 yards field goal Maybe not intuitive, but a general rule

OK, imagine the offense is driving from the own 0 to the opps 40 = 60 yards. Now they punt for 40 yards to the opps 0. If we would take the offset of 7 yards into account, the whole drive has more than 100 yards. This is not possible since the field is exactly 100 yards long. The same reason you won't measure yards inside the endzones on drives. There is a difference on fieldgoals, where the field distance contains the LOS + 7 yard offset + 10 yards endzone. This is why a 40 yard Field goal was kicked from the 30, and the LOS is on the 23. |

Yes I understand. I mean the official NFL rule doesn´t make sense at all to me. But it is only a visual/statistic thing.
