Modern Talking reminds me of the Chart Hits that used to occur in July/August when all the Brits came back from Holiday in the Mediterranean and bought the records they'd heard on Holiday, Groups/Singers that you'd never heard of would be selling loads of records, and it was all "Europop" .... you German guys might not be familiar with Stock,Aitken & Waterman but they did a similar thing, they had a 'certain sound' that sold records and they made all their records like it, they were the people that made Kylie Minogue famous (probably not something to be too proud of ) ....anyone remember Sabrina singing some song called Summertime Love (Boys), this is the type of record that fits the "one-off Europop hit" tag perfectly ....she was hot stuff though !

that's a shame , because watching a Sabrina video is much much more fun than watching a Modern Talking "Ballermann" video !

p.s. what is 'GEMA' ? it sounds like some sort of modern day Stasi that censors youtube videos ..but only in Germany

GEMA is the "company" caring for the rights and money of artists in Germany...you play music in the public, you probably have to pay GEMA fees

Ahhh, OK ....we've got a similar body, they're called PRS for Music (formerly the Performing Right Society) ....they're famous (infamous is probably a better word) for making petty, stupid decisions.

Once they told a woman who used classical music to calm her horses that she must pay a licence fee ! , a car mechanic who worked alone was told to buy a £150 public licence fee to play music on his radio.

So it seems that small-minded bureaucrats are alive and thriving in most countries !

yes it is the same company and you have it in the most countries. I am not sure if it is maybe a european thing and exist in every european country.

In germany there was a dispute between google(Youtube) and the GEMA. The Gema wants 6,5 cent per using a saved video on youtube. Youtube wouldn´t pay so much and the GEMA demand youtube to block these videos. Google/youtube sue against this call from the GEMA. A few weeks ago there was a judgement by a german court that the GEMA was right. Now both sides will come back to one table and negotiate about what youtube have to pay. until the find a solution many videos are blocked for german IP´s.
