OK ... if this sounds familiar, it has been briefly mentioned once or twice before, I'm not exactly sure who originally suggested it, but I think I'll credit Lee1950 (and his Dog
 !).
The idea is really simple ....SuperCup qualifying stays EXACTLY the same as now, but ......... Teams that finish between 49th to 96th (inclusive) will go into the SuperCup "Consolation bracket". This would be played at exactly the same time that the 1st to 48th teams would be playing, and with exactly the same format (head-to-head knockout). There would be the following differences:- Attendances ..... The attendance will be 50% of whatever it would have been if it was a 1st to 48th place game Trophy ........ No trophy to be awarded this is how it would have looked from Season 3 standings :- 49th place - Mystic - Won 14 Lost 1 - Points diff 764 96th place - NY Bulldogs - Won 13-2 - Points diff 693 so MAYBE those are the types of records you'd need to get in the Consolation bracket. Reason for adding this ? .... to keep interest in the competition for more teams for a longer period .... 13-2 teams could still qualify (for the consolation) Last edited on 2012-05-23 16:05:42 by sh8888 |
