To my way of thinking, if you get done 100+ to nil you should get a pretty big morale hit no matter what the RD.

Let's play around with the PD/RD idea -

40 PD and 10 RD - - > a factor of 4

but which way is the RD, + or - ?

I'm not sure there is a simple formula for this sort of thing.

I think a table is the best and simplest way here. A bit of work initially but arguably worth it.

were talking about PD's and RD's then someones off to B & Q for a table. What did i miss while I was at work today? by the sounds of PDs and RDs I've missed the news and sex in the city. Then tables as well it looks like I've missed DIY SOS as well.

PD = point difference
RD = rating difference

Not sure if you are trolling me but I fell for it either way

I agree but to make thinks easy. I would set it up like this.
Where it was done by a zone rather than a Td amount.
That way it would be the difference in the amount of point that be the factor in how much morale was lose.
And that way close game even high scoring one would hurt teams as much if it was a close score.

Like this lose 0-14 no lose in morale
14-21 -3
14-24 -6
24-38 -12
38-52 -24
52+ -30

So no consideration of RD?

To me, morale hit is proportional to what happened compared to pre-game expectations.

I would be happy to lose by a smallish margin to a team much better than mine. Smallish could be < 28.
