The world just want you to think it's a democracy...democracy is an illusion.

and as for going public with this, i say good on ya! Having spent alot of time going in and out of psych wards, shrink appointments and having season tickets for my doctors, i say if you can't be honest with yourself and others then your ice skating up hill.

It took our doctors 8 years to diagnose me with bi-polar manic depression and the biggest help i've found has been noticing my behaviour patterns. It eventually gets to a point where you can notice yourself becoming manic, way before the point where it's all too much or too late and you come crashing back to earth with the biggest thud.

The world would be a much better place if more people could see and hear them-self from other people's perspective.

Then it's a simple matter of self control - well, maybe not so simple.

I'm all in on being public. It helps to break stigamtization. Personally it helps me a lot being open about it and telling people and let them ask their questions. At the same time I believe it helps others in the same situation, both realizing it, accepting it and eventually not consider it embarresing.

It took them 7 years to diagnose me, unfortunately 7-8 years is quiet normal time for diagnosis. I too find that recognizing my behavior patterns helps me a lot avoiding manic episodes, and avoiding them helps a lot to avoid the depressions. I am sure my medication and regular talk with my pschiatrist helps a lot to. All together i am pretty much normal, as normal as I want to be anyway And still I kind of miss some of the crazy stuff I did when manic

Good luck with your life, but.....

I just want to know who many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop.
