there good if you are paying your star QB 59K a week and knowing that he'd get more expensive every year; you can keep him at a low rate (although in my case; i ended up with one of my lb costing me 88K just this season alone (thats per week)

If you tag a player with a franchise contract at the proper age, you can save tons of money.
Just an example: I signed a FC (3+1 years) of 44100 per week to a player with 27 years and block 34. I expect him to finish this season with block 37-38 and next one with 40-42. So next season i´m going to save around 8-16k per week next season and around 44-80k per week in two seasons. The good thing is that he have talent 4, so i can push him up to 47 in block without fear, because his contract will expire in season 10, moment in wich the player will have 31 years. I signed a FC (4+1 years) of 60000 per week to a player with 26 years and tackling 34. I expect him to finish this season with tackling 37-38 and next one with 40-42. So next season i´m going to overpay him a maximun of 8k per week (or saving 2k) next season, but in 2 seasons i will save between 20-60k per week . The good thing is that he have also talent 4, so i can push him up to 47 in tackling without fear, because his contract will expire in season 11, moment in wich the player will have 31 years. |

i tend to franchise some of my main positions when they reach 26/27 as that takes them to the end of their career really.

One hint as addition to the manual:
("There are different Contract types available. You can negotiate up to 5 Franchise Contracts for a length of 3 to 4 seasons...") This mean, that you have in total "5 Franchise contract YEARS" A contract for "this and 4 seasons" will consume 2 "Franchise contract years" So these are the possible contracts: 5x "this and 3 years" (= 5 Franchise players) 1x "this and 4 years" + 3x "this and 3 years" (= 4 Franchise players) 2x "this and 4 years" + 1x "this and 3 years" (=3 Franchise players) Perhaps the manual should get an u p d a t e with a better description. |

Sorry. This might be total bullshit. I might to remember, that it would be this way, but it seem to be possible to negotiate 5 "this and 4 year" contracts. |

So I'm still trying to understand the Franchise Contracts.
One Example: You give a player a contract for this and 4 seasons. This player "consume" 2 of 5 Franchise Contracts (FC). Will this 2 years be "free"... ..., when the Franchise player get a new contract in the last year of the FC? ... one after the first year and the second after the second year of the FC? |

1.) This is the first time I heard about Franchise-contracts of different lenghts consuming a different amount of possible F-contracts.
2.) It's not mentioned in the manual. 3.) I have 4 players under 4-year-F-contracts at the moment. But 2 of them are running out, so your theory is still possible. 4.) Two players are under 4-year-F-contracts and I'm still able to negotiate a 4-year-F-contract. That shouldn't be possible if your theory would be correct. |
