I just played my first league game against a new rookie team that I outmatched considerably in all categories, but I was completely unable to move the ball in the air or on the ground. I edged out a slight win, but the only points scored were on missed tackles for TDs or him intercepting my QB for 2 FGs.

My tactics are the same ones that worked much better against better teams in a running friendly cup. Did something change considerably about the game or did my boys just have an off day? I was expecting a blowout based on player qualities combined with my teams much better conditioning....

It did make for an exciting game to watch

Oddly enough I was the only fan watching...it was played in his stadium with a current size of 0.

Any advice on New Engine changes appreciated (or reassurance to not worry and stand fast. )

Your offense was too predictable for most of the game. If you always pass from one formation, and your opponent always calls dime, then you cannot expect much success.

And 3 Ints? Have you got med/long passes in your gameplan?

Thanks for the reply!

I passed and ran evenly out of the pro set today (And he mostly called 5-3). Why would that harm my passing and shutdown my run game? Has something changed in the code?

No long passes in there. Just short and occasional med. the picks were inconsistent with previous games too

as I said above I've seen consistently good results against stronger rookie teams in friendly cups. This was a brand new team with inferior players, conditioning and chemistry. It surprised me to suddenly see a working system stop working against a very weak team.

My real question is did the engine change such that a certain formation would become invalid or any other tactics upending changes that should cause me to rework my playbooks? I've gotten emails from a few others that said they saw really irregular results in game one so that's why I'm asking.

If consensus is all normal then I'll just ride it out as see how next week goes.

Similar for me. My game was relatively close whereas last season I reckon it would have been a blowout.

Your passing success came from the proset... BUT

26 passes, 0 runs, from the 2 shotgun formations - all against dime - that's where your passing messed up.

Medium passes are not worth calling.

Not ever.

They go for almost as many interceptions as you get completions - and that was me testing 4wr vs 5-3 defense, using a very good qb with good receivers.

The incompletions are due to excessive levels of WR drops.

Actually, from my experience the occasional medium pass works pretty good.

As a quick observation, or have you recorded actual stats?

No, I haven't compiled a stat sheet on this, just by comparing the playbook and the actual game situations.

Same thing happened to me more or less. I was just assuming (hoping) that it was just a bad day.

No medium passes and opponent was way more predicable (all his pass from 4wr with no runs) but I still had all the turn overs. Oh well we'll see what happens with the next game.
