I wouldn't mind if pete just took medium and long out of the playbook so that the only options were 'run' and 'pass.'

Then give the ability to choose "pass and run" "Prefer" and "Mainly" inside the playbook just like in the game settings.

What I'd really like to see is enough of a penalty so that people can't keep doing the nothing but passing from a single formation and having it work fine.

I know that was supposed to be tweaked with 3.0 but it doesn't seem like it was enough. Many teams still seem to have good success with the, no running all passing from a single formation, playbooks.

Just not realistic or fun to see people doing 100% passing from Proset and 100% running from Big-I for example.

It seems our observations and experiences are varied because I see the engine working well in this regard.

Just on this subject though - I'd also like to see some way to control how run or pass orientated a D becomes over time. I have seen tactics that take advantage of the engine as it is - like running every down in the first half and then come out passing vs a very run conscious D. I think Ds should flip back a lot faster, especially after getting bombed by a long pass.

My ideal passing setup -

3 options in the playbook - aggressive, balanced and conservative.

Aggressive - QB most focussed on getting the ball down the field - most INTs. But if the QB, WR and OL are talented then INTs normal and super potent passing attack.

Balanced - QB takes what's there - his and his teams skills, and the D's, dictate the outcomes. Avg chance of INTs

Conservative - for rookie QBs or simply mistake free orientated managers/coaches. Least chance of INTs - would only go deep when needed or if a WR/TE is very open.

Forcing a QB to go med/deep on a play doesn't work for me as a concept at all - it takes most of the QBs ability out of the equation and makes him do dumb stuff.

I think time to create topic for ideas for new engine.

I like "1-2-3" system for setup passing.
1 - fast pass to default or reserve reciver.
2 - QB waiting some time until recivers can open. And pass to the 1-st open reciver.
3 - QB waiting long time untl recivers can open. And pass to the best open reciver.
