Don't know what I should think about this

Was he really that naive? Nobody can be so foolish to think he'll get through with such a hoax, so I just don't want to believe he was part of it.

I've read that story on several pages and I still don't get it 100%

He had an internet/phone relationship with a girl, who died on Leukemia and then it turned out that girl never existed/that girl is still alive?
How can that happen? They seem to be still unsure, if a girl with that name ever existed.

And if this was all a prank .... that is a lot of time and effort that person(s) put into this, before they pulled the plug.

I'm currious if this will be explained to 100%.

1.) Yes, he says he thought so.
2.) Yes, he says he thought so.
3.) Yes.
4.) No, see 3.)
5.) As far as I know, it is 100% sure, that girl never existed. The name is a fake, the accounts are fake, the photos are from another FB-account and even the village in which she was reportedly buried does not exist.

But did Te'o know she didn't exist?

I saw someone had had him going in the 1st round, but not after this. I fail to see how this could affect his draft status.

OK.
I've read at espn:
Hoax
There it says:

"On the morning of Dec. 26, very early morning, Manti called his coaches to inform them that while he was in attendance at the ESPN awards show in Orlando, he received a phone call from a number he recognized as having been that he associated with Lennay Kekua," Swarbrick said. "When he answered it, it was a person whose voice sounded like the same person he had talked to, who told him that she was, in fact, not dead. Manti was very unnerved by that, as you might imagine."

So that women talking to Te'o did call again?
Or was that a lie from te'o?

and

"Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011."
Is he in that, too?

Totally crazy.

watching the press conference with Te'o on the NFL.com site he seems very genuine! I think that he was telling the truth when he said that he was the victim!

Football players don't have to be socially smart. He's defintely falling in value. His 40 and Harbaugh's Great Reaction did not help the controversy. I think he's still very worthy though and might be a major steal if he drops in value.

surly a good 40 time is only relevant for a middle linebacker if he's chasing someone down? if he's operating in the area behind the defensive tackle(s) then surly he doesnt need to be able to sprint quickly?

Traditionally it would not have been viewed as important in the NFL, but that was before guys like Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Patrick Willis, and Keith Brooking happened. It is not the most important, instincts and smarts definitely top it and they NEED to want to tackle, but sideline to sideline speed is coveted to any team at MLB, almost but not as much as a pass rusher or CB.

Speed is always wanted in a defense. For MLB this is especially important on stopping the outside run. If the OLB is blocked or he missed the HB, then the MLB has to reach him, and if he can't it is up to the Safety to stop the RB, which is the last line of defense. Other things like rushing the passer and breaking the pocket and getting to gaps and covering the middle are all going to be tied to how fast the MLB is. For most teams they need the MLB to be that guy to get there play after play.

Manti's 4.82 looks a bit weak. Usually NFL scouts and teams would want it to be down to 4.7 at least. 4.5-4.6 ideally.
