For example, should a player improve (due to experience) more from his rookie year to year 2 or from year 3 to 4. I think the answer is the the benefit at the lower end should be greater.

Bang on.

I think it was discussed before, not too sure, but maybe something for the 'suggestions' section?

Experience
Experience is what lets your player play up to his fullest potential. Players are "born" with half a star of experience. Players can gain experience in regular matches and friendly matches on Friday, based on the number of plays in that match. Friendlies accrue much less experience than competitive matches do. Experience affects the game play by creating a penalty on playing skills like catching or passing for each level below maximum - fitness skills are not affected by experience. Each 10% of experience is indicated by half a star. The highest level of experience achievable is 5* which equates to 100%.

I certainly think linear is the easiest implementation....I'm not sure there is anything that says it is nor any study that shows it is.

There is no doubt that EXP for players should be the same as for the coaches i.e. improve a lot when it's low and have the increase taper off as it gets higher - that's realistic.

You learn a ton more in your 1st year of anything than your 10th.

In the NFL the term "veteran" applies to players with ~ 3 or more seasons EXP.

Yep it should be relatively easy to reach average experience of 3 stars say a couple of seasons to get from 0.5 to 3. but to reach 5 stars they have to play every game for 10 seasons

But it seems to take around 4 zillion games to gain 0.5 a star.

In my team 0.5 of EXP appears to be rewarded for 2000-3500 plays, on average.

So player need at least 50 games for this progres!

I knew there was a reason I am booking an eye test today I am seeing decent reasoning from a statement made by hosh

If I see one from N0b0dy or whatever it is as well I'll also go and get a drugs test because I must be hallucinating

Often even a lot more than that.

My DL Leopoldo Sáez entered my senior team aged 21, EXP 1.5.

Two and a half seasons, 95 games and 3100 snaps later he's still at EXP 1.5. One of many examples.
