This vibrant event was proudly sponsored by Spikey Cleats, "Eating turf since 1977."
From the onset, the game showcased a fierce competition as the Rio Monarchs, predicted to triumph, received the initial kickoff following a closely contested coin toss. The first score came courtesy of the Bluebacks after a meticulously orchestrated drive that culminated in a touchdown, capturing a lead with strong offensive teamwork. Edison Cantwell's successful PAT extended their score to 10-0, energizing the Bluebacks’ supporters.
However, the Monarchs quickly turned the tide, responding with a decisive fumble recovery and return touchdown by André Flores, shifting the momentum in their favor. This was shortly followed by another Monarchs touchdown, bringing the score to 20-10 and demonstrating their resilience and tactical adjustments.
The ensuing offensive struggles for both teams brought tension to the air as the Monarchs showcased defensive prowess with an interception from Ned Killian, changing the complexion of the match.
