So I'm running the same tactics as last season pretty much, my team was not great before as I'd had it for 2 and a half seasons, not bought that many players in that time, been through two drafts and picked up players in key positions.

This draft I get awesome corners, linebacker and safety... huge upgrades on what I had in there before. I have also bought an offensive lineman, which again is a massive upgrade.

Played 3, lost 3. Now of course we all lose games, by if you go by the percentages of how my team is rated, I should be winning these games and last season I was taking down teams rated higher than me.

My buddy who I play pretty much every week, beat me 28-3 last night in a friendly and I normally beat him quite consistently.

Didn't want to put this in the rookie thread as I'm not really a Rookie.

But I can't see a reason for the sudden dive in performance. My team is unquestionably better for the 4 players I have. Everyone else has put their drafted players into their lineups so surely I can't be hurting in terms of chemistry more than everyone else.

Any ideas?

I can reply with a few things.

In the last league game you had a 434 defense vs Big I. He gouged you for 6.3 ypc. That isn't a good defense for the Big I. I also noticed that you didn't mix up your formations. If you always run out of "X" formation or pass out of "X" formation then that makes it REALLY easy to set up a successful defense. I think in that game your loss is purely on formation matchups.

In the friendly vs the bruins they had a rating advantage over you anyway, but again your defense formations weren't ideal vs his offense formations.

I'd say focus a little more on defense and mixing up your offense formations in terms of run/pass and you will be just fine.

Looks like you were well scouted, and your PB was a bit too predictable?

You're always running from the same formations + passing from the same formations. And your opponents shifted to heavy run / pass D.

*edit - ignore me, what SFNiner said lol*

Thanks Guys,

I'm going to have to look into this as this shouldn't be the case... the defence is fair enough, I have to look into shifting the 4-3-4 away from the Big I.

But I'm going to have to look at my playbook as I definitely shouldn't be coming out of the same formations all the time.

Baring in mind I've had this playbook active for a year... can I just check if I am understanding something correctly?

For example, I have in there, 1st quarter, 1st down, yards to go ANY, I formation rush - left and right

Can I add multiple rules for the same scenario? So put in say a Big I formation rush for the same scenario and also maybe a pass? And then working off that logic there's a 66% chance I'll rush and a 33% chance I'll pass?

the playbook would use the first rule always...you have to make differences, maybe by standing, by distance to GL or whatever...

That's fair enough. So basically 1st and 10 in the first quarter, you can only have one rule if I understand that correctly?

So the only way to truly mix things up is to have multiple playbooks?
