For more then 40 years now I have been associated with football. In front of the TV or the stadium as a fan, as an active player, as a computer player (and now, also as a GM ).

Always connected to the position of the Quarterback, I saw them all, the heroes of my childhood: Roger Staubach, Terry Bradshaw, Brian Sipe, Bert Jones, Joe Mantana play.

The game, the style, of these Quarterbacks have affected me and is showing my, perhaps old-fashioned, understanding of the position of the Quarterback.

Today there is an entirely different class in the NFL.

-G.O.A.T- Quinn of Notre Dame - I could never understand the hype about Quinn. What an embarrassment he is.
Tim Tepow of Florida - Interesting style. But is this still a Quarterback? Well, he is successful. Amen.

And now the latest bird of paradise: Robert Griffin III of Baylor University.

As seen in the interviews and the media, I mean a very nice, and athletic highly talented, player.
His interpretation of the position of the Quarterback is, - let' say interesting.
The NFL is not a sympathy contest.

1. What do you think?
Will Robert Griffin III make it in the NFL?

2. And what do you think about all this modern style of play?
It's is definitely exciting to watch.

Pete, this is not hint - this is the way to go!

I have not posted in the relevant forum because I have disabled the 'American Football in real life' section in the settings.

I'll change that.

Please move my post in 'American Football in real life'.

As with all sports, the game evolves and comparing modern day football to the game of the 80s/70s and beyond is trite - its like comparing cars of today to those of the same period. You look back with nostalgia and fondness, but there is no possible way to compare the players or even the game itself. This is true with all sports.

Will RGIII make it in the NFL? He already has done. His contract says so. But it depends what you mean by 'make it'. A SuperBowl ring? ProBowl appearance? Multi of both? HOF entrant? Many great NFL players achieved none or few of those, but still 'made it'.

I just wonder why you key on RGIII. He is in a class of a few - Kaepernick and Wilson are of the same ilk. RGIII is by no means the first QB of his kind - arguably Mike Vick was the first or best in his pomp at Atlanta - but thru the years there have been other examples of this type of QB.

FWIW, RGIII is a genuine franchise QB. If he can stay injury free, he can lead the Redskins to some great things.

In my opinion RG III alreday make it.
The thing that would concern me, if I would like Washigton (Eagles baby!)
is if RG III or this type of Player can stay healthy long enough. If you look at Michael Vick, you'll see the same thing. He was only once abel to play the whole season.

That's what I had I mind.
RG III signed a contract - fine.
We all know about NFL contracts, don't we?

But will RG III stay healthy long enough?
And will he have so a long lasting career?

Don't like this thread here!
Redskins, Eagles...hmpf.

Cowboys do it all!

You asked if he would make it - you said nothing about injuries. That could happen to any player in the NFL at any time.

If youre a Cowboys fans you should be more concerned about the fate of your own under-achieving QB.

Redskins>>>>>Eagles>>>>>Cowtwats.

Tony Romo is in a class of his own. He is by far the greatest QB of all time .......... at throwing an interception when his team needs him the most.

Either your understanding of all elements of football are poor, or you simply dislike the Cbows. Im guessing both.

Romo has been a great QB (despite mistakes) since he started. You seem easy to overlook the 31st ranked run game and piss poor defense from last season. Oh I forgot, he practically ran for his life every other play. When the team was giving up, Romo was trying to step up and "force" things to happen. Unfortunately when you do that a lone it doesnt end well.

So defense gives up big plays and puts the Cboys offense in a deep hole late into the 4th quarter... Romos fault amiright? Run game is shut down... gotta be Romos fault. O-line misses block after block almost every play forcing Romo to A) throw the ball away, B) run out of bounds, C) take another sack, or D) force a big play... you get really tired of seeing ABC all the time. Romo finished behind only Drew Brees and Matt Stafford in passing yards, and a 90.5 QB rating. He is not under achieving... the ENTIRE team including coaching is.

2012 Cbow rankings:

Pass YPG: 3rd
Run YPG: 31st
OPP pass yds: 19th
OPP rush yds: 22nd

I dont give a crap who is behind center (Payton Manning, Tom -G.O.A.T-, Aaron Rodgers), you wont get anywhere unless others step up to help deliver.
