I say sort of because the further in the seasons we get the worse I am at this. lol.

These young whipper snappers coming up from 2.X are tougher and tougher now. Damn, 2 of them made the playoffs last year! Jeez....

So here we go....

AC East

Returning Champ: Steely who finished 13-3 and won comfortably. Lost in first round last year to newcomer Black Storm. Still processing that one.

Returning contenders: Zaragoza who finished strong at 9-7 and barely missed the playoffs.

New: Kingfighters (another Frenchman. Up to three now!) Kingfighters were conference champs in 2.2. They lost to the new NC East team the 69ers in the championship game 17-10. That was a game that the kingfighters owned for the first 3 quarters until the 69ers had two long touchdowns bombs in the 4th quarter. A friendly rematch was won by kingfighters later on.

Devinians are the other new team in this division and are the champs of 2.1. In that league he beat several teams that have been demoted from 1.1 (noname, dome babies, panthers, and redcoats). None of those games really impressed me. The signature win by this team has to be a supercup playoff win vs bwadders. That is a tough team to beat.

Predictions:

Steely has to be the favorite to win the division as the returning champ.

Zaragoza will hang around as always but I don't think they will make the playoffs.

Devininians have better ratings than kingfighters so that is why I am picking kingfighters to finish 4th in the division. For either team to finish above Zaragoza or Steely will take intense gameplanning as the talent isn't on the rosters to do so alone.

AC North

Returning Champ: Fanjy Tim who lost to the second place division team in the playoffs, Duran Durans, in a close overtime playoff game.

Contending teams: Duran Duran who beat Fanjy in the playoffs and nearly pulled the upset off over Pigs.

Madrid had a comeback season for them finishing 9-7 last year. Considering their miserable seasons before this was a fantastic year for them. It will take just as big an improvement for them to advance to the playoffs this year.

Danish Cowboys: Finished 5-11 last year but had a great draft in my opinion. He drafted a franchise cb a great sf and finished with a good rb. He did have some good wins last season vs Duran Durans, Zaragoza.

I don't see much changing in the division in terms of order except it is possible for DD and Fanjy to swap places.

AC South

Returning Champ: War Dogs in a squeaker. This division has risen from a joke to very strong in only one season. War Dogs lost in the playoffs errr. were squashed in the playoffs by Duran Durans.

Contending teams:

Black Storm took us all by storm. This team works hard at game planning as their rating doesn't support their success. To start last season 1-4 and not looking good doing so to then to beat Steamrollers 20-0 and then beat Steely in the playoffs....it just boggles the mind! lol. This team finished one game back in the division last year so they are in the mix to win this year.

Stuttgart has enjoyed so many seasons of autopilot that perhaps they weren't ready for the dogfight this last season. Looked like the same story about to repeat, 2 new teams in the division (as seems to happen a lot for that division in the past), another Stuttgart crown.. Ooops. Stuttgart did finish 10-6 so they were in the mix last year but getting swept by Black Storm was their doom. Splitting those 2 games would have meant the playoffs.

Cybot finished 3-13 and they will be fighting to avoid relegation this season.

AC West

Returning Champ: Pigs

Contenders: None

Other teams:

Red Black warriors finished a respectable 9-7 but way back behind Pigs who were 15-1. Warriors had some nice wins vs playoff teams Girona and Black Storm. The hopes of them winning the division rest upon if Pigs cry enough to pack and go home or if they stick it out here and stay.

Lightworks finished last season 7-9. Lightworks is in the unfortunate position of being in the same division as pigs. Although they did score a nice win vs pigs 2 seasons ago....so there is the potential.

New team:
Devil Pirates don't know a lot about them, but don't see them finished higher than 4th in the division.

So this division will remain the property of pigs for as long as they stay here. Although I find it silly for them to leave at all. Not a lot to complain about with all the trophies in their case.

NC East

Returning Champs: Steamrollers surprised me last season as in season 8 they finished 9-7 with a -3 pd. So in season 9 when they go 12-4 with a 246 pd...that is quite amazing!

Contenders:

Mad Rabbits are maybe the best team in the NC to not make the playoffs this last season. They finish 10-6 last year, but....5 of the 6 losses were single digit losses to good teams. They lose by 3 to steamrollers, by 7 to me, 3 to Jersey, 6 to mystic, and 8 to stuttgart. So vs the NC North they lost 3 games by an average of 5 points. Lucky bounces and they win their division last year. Could win it this season as well.

Kolin won this division in seasons 6 and 7. Last year finishing 7-9 was not the best season for this squad. I'm looking to see them bounce back with a better showing and at least making the division race more interesting.

New Team:

Bieberhole 69ers replace the Typhoons who have been in the division for a very long time. The 69ers won the 2.1 championship last season with a strong 4th quarter where they had two long touchdown passes to win 17-10. His ratings are ok, but in this division that might enough to keep it interesting. They could finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th. Wouldn't be surprised either way.

NC North

Returning Champ: SF. I hate writing about my division as I don't want to sound like an arrogant ass. I think this is the season I take a step back. Without relying on the 4wrsg is my goal. In my 4 losses last season 3 were with experimental playbooks. If I get to the halfway point and am not doing well....a fire sale (not quitting, but remaking the roster) will occur. I do think I can still win the division again.

Contenders:

Jersey Scorpions are the team that I fear most. No offense to Mystic as I have great respect for that team, but based on last season Mystic struggled some. Scorpions made the playoffs and finished 1 game back in the division standings. That alone makes them a threat.

Mystic started the season in a bad way going 3-7. To finish it out strong, very strong at 8-8 tells me some things were sorted out for them. That last strong push featured win vs Jersey and a thrashing vs Steely. I do expect them to finish better record wise than last season. Mystic or myself have won this division every season...will it continue?

New team: League of Heroes lost in their conference championship game to the 69ers 6-22. The team didn't lose a game until well past the halfway point last season. Based on ratings I don't see how they will finish anywhere but 4th in the division. Tough division to land in.

NC South

Returning Champs: Fighters de Paris. This was a close division where anyone could win it!

Contenders: Yurop was 29 pd from winning the division. So do they have a shot? Of course!

Northern Riviera finished one game back in the division. They are in the mix as always. Although for some reason his number of posts has almost halted to nothing as of late. Are they going to stay in business or will they leave to stay at -TOG- Who knows?

Horada the once proud squad is struggling to hang around. Not sure what is going on with them...

Thanks as always for these write-ups. I think you're spot on for my division. I like the 'girls new draft too, seems like a great team is in the making there.

As for my own ambitions this season, I'm hoping for a wildcard spot. Fajny's team ratings just keep going up and up and up and now he's 5% above mine so apart from freakish luck I can't see myself challenging him in the two games we play. Madrid probably wants to make a wildcard run themselves this season so I expect that'll keep me busy.

The change to counter sg4wr spam has left me somewhat disappointed. There's no way to tell if it's affecting you or not, pete doesn't even want to tell us how many formations we have to use to completely avoid it (four? five?). It sucks because any time I could just say 'oh my team just sucks' in the previous seasons will now lead to me scouring my playbook to see if I accidentally use a formation too much or not. I'm really hoping the flexible (f.e. 30% rush 70% pass) playbook rules make it in for s11 because right now making a playbook unpredictable is just a pain in the ass and now you also gotta watch you don't overuse a formation too. I kinda want to use Leijona's tricks and keep running the shotgun because I'm too lazy to make another new playbook.

Big game with Madrid Tuesday. I've started the last two seasons 0-2 and 1-3, so I wouldn't bet on myself there.
