It's pure bull.

As for the moving to London comment. It won't work look at the Monarchs, sell outs for a couple of seasons then the fans got fed up of making their way to London 5 times a season to watch them play.

Back when the British Game was big (before those in charge ruined it completely) the worst supported teams were the London Ravens and London Olympians who were two of the most successful. I remember going to London to watch either the semi final or final between the Birmingham Bulls and London Olympians and the O's had more players than fans.

If they want a british team fair enough but move it around the country
Games in London, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow / Edinborough would give the franchise the chance to build a fan base which could possibly even open the door for more franchises over here.

The main problem is though the domestic game someone please rip control from those running it now. Market it properly and generate some real interest.

I guess I'll chime in my two cents, since I started this thread:

Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins...Please remain firm in NOT changing your teams name. I feel that there is no reason to expound any further on this, so I'll leave it at that.

I'm not saying it would work, I'm just saying they want to try it. they very much want to globalize the game and in pure American fashion don't believe anyone else can do it.

sounds crap. Doesnt Atlanta already have a Braves team in NBA or Baseball or something?

i seriously doubt it will happen anyway. and if it does, it should be the CowboyHangers or Giantkillers or EagleShooters or something equally as offensive as the Redskins seems to be!

it's hypocritical of everyone saying to change their name to NOT be up in arms at the same time over the cleveland indians, the KC chiefs, florida state seminoles, etc etc. i could list prob 100 indian-themed team names. redskins isn't even comparable to the n-word on the level of what the word means. it's not even close, esp given that redskins ORIGINATED as a word that natives used themselves and wasn't of a derogatory nature.

also, there are polls that are terribly biased one way and terribly biased the other way as far as what natives actually feel towards the redskins name. i've read an interview with a native american who would be more offended if they did change the name.

i never will understand how we A) waste so much time arguing about this in this country and B) think that a team name somehow "belittles" people. i don't get it, i think it's more of an honor to be named after the washington football franchise. call me fucking crazy.

I'm 1000% in your corner on this, sketchy, not at all crazy. Fact is, the US did wage war upon the Indians of North America, this cannot be disputed, and yes it was brutal and yes atrocities were committed.

I guess I see us as naming sports teams with Indian names, Redskins, Braves, Seminoles etc. as a sign of respect to all of the Indian people that we realize that it is the Indian people that respected the land that we now have conquered and have made some kind of "peace offering" to them that, hey, we took this land, but we haven't forgotten about what you folks have done and wish to show respect for that exact reason.

How many other conquered nations actually highlight or care in any way about the people that were there before them??

i just want the same uproar over EVERY other team nickname, because redskins as a term has several connotations, and it wasn't until recently that we decided it was "derogatory."
