But I would say more so than Smith or Charles ... that the Chiefs are where they are because their defense isn't just good, it's historically good.

They're allowing less points per game than the 75' Steel Curtain D ... the 66' Packers ... or the 86' Bears. They're on a pace to finish in the top 10 defenses in the NFL of all-time! That's not even taking into account, the scoring average of the league as a whole has kept creeping up over time.

Just to toss another stat out - they've held opponents to 27/107 on 3rd down passing. That ... is just simply brutal.

Good points mate - however it will be very interesting to see how they fare against a few more explosive offenses to come over the next few weeks - Broncos (twice), Chargers (twice), Colts and Redskins are all capable of rucking up points.

I kinda hope they do! A great defense is so great to watch - even (IMO) better than a great offense.
