damn really close, but I managed to win my first game, hoping it's gonna go a bit less stressful next time

Yeah, I didn't expect this game to be that close.. Those damn punt/kick off returns were killing me!

Congratulations

I posted a short summary, hopefully I am gonna do that after every round.

Round Two

Group A

FAJNY TIM 10 – 16 Packers

- Surprising result in rather defensive game. FAJNY TIM surely was a favorite to win this game, but Packers played well and they have their faith in their own hands now. Offensives struggled and defenses prevailed. There were more turnovers on downs (5) than touchdowns (2).

- Packers had only two yards in the air in their first match against Xenos. In Round Two, they were passing much more and they had 239 passing yards and one TD.

- FAJNY TIM’s DL Buford Whited had a great game with 19 tackles (4 of them for loss and 0 missed). His teammate experienced WR Karol Sambroski scored one touchdown, but 8 drops is little bit too much to be help your team as expected.

Xenos 0 – 57 Motol Ducks

- Motol Ducks dominated the game from the beginning till the end. They scored 3 rush TDs, 3 pass TDs and 5 FGs to win the game 57-0.

- Ducks backup QB Mikey Rowe had a decent game. He completed 64% of his passes for 177 yards and 3 TDs and he completely outshined Ducks starting QB Ihor Holík, who completed only 39 % of hiss passes for 106 yards and 0 TDs.

- The only Xenos player, that had a good day, was DL Marc Osborne, who managed to sack Ducks QB two times.

Group B

Slavia Pankrác 76 – 6 Brisbane Meteors

- Slavia Pankrác probably read my last review and they got angry. And obviously you don’t want to face Slavia Pankrác, when they are angry, because they are on fire! 76-6 is the highest win in the Duck Bowl history (in Duck Bowl II Bretzfeld Bandits beat neroverde 70-0).

- Slavia’s offense was obviously working extremely well, but also defense helped to score points. LB Adejola Oyinlola caught one interception, forced 1 fumble, recovered 1 fumble and scored 2 defensive TDs.

- Meteors FB Stanislav Suyumbayev had pretty unlucky game yesterday. He fumbled the ball that was returned to the TD in his first carry of the game. Then he had only one more carry and he rushed for only one yard.

Phalanx 17 – 28 AS Roma Wolves

- Phalanx had more rushing yards, passing yards and first downs, but it were the Wolves, who win the game to make in interesting in Group B.

- Wolves RB Vrushik Mati helped a lot with his returns. He had 130 yards in 6 kick off/punt returns. His two punt returns (38 yards and 44 yards) ended up on opp 26 and in both following drives Wolves scored TD.

- Phalanx were much more effective on the ground. Both of their TDs were rush TDs and their average per rush was 6,1 yards. It was much worse in the air – 0 TDs and only average of 3,4 yards per attempt.

Round Three

There were still 6 teams fighting for playoff spots in this final group stage round. It was the most offensive round of all three rounds. There were 3 games with 60+ points and one with 50 points. Who made it to the playoffs and who did not? Let’s have a look.

Group A

Motol Ducks 54 – 10 Packers

- Both teams needed to win badly. Packers were dominating in the air (325 yards vs. 199 yards), the Ducks were dominating on the ground (225 yards vs. 16 yards), but most importantly the Ducks were dominating the game from the beginning till the very end. They won 54-10 and they basically locked themselves at the top of their group, because FAJNY TIM would have to win by more then 100 points to win the group.

- Packers just didn’t repeat their performance they had shown against FAJNY TIM and they were struggling. QB Luc Millet threw 2 interceptions, RB Clyde Owen carried the ball for 14 times for only 7 yards and he fumbled twice, but he was able to recover. And also no defensive player stepped up.

- Motol Ducks on the other hand had a great game, especially their RBs. Hansjürgen Franke carried the ball 19 times for 131 yards and 2 TDs and James -G.O.A.T- carried the ball 11 times for 66 yards and 1 TD. -G.O.A.T- also scored 88 yards punt return TD. Defensive player worth mentioning is LB Vladimír Pivonka, who caught 2 interceptions.

FAJNY TIM 54 - 6 Xenos

- Thanks to the Ducks huge win, FAJNY TIM just needed to win no matter what the score would be at the game’s end. FAJNY TIM didn’t leave anything to chance and they won 54-6 and they secured their ticket to the playoffs.

- FAJNY TIM had a massive 2Q, which they won 35-0. Defense helped a lot to score so many points within one quarter with 2 fumbles returned to TD and 1 interception. Two defensive players that need to be mentioned are LBs Buford Whited (again) and Husani Okoro. Whited had 13 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovered and 1 defensive TD. Okoro caught interception, recovered one fumble and scored 2 defensive TDs.

- Xenos were the only team in this group without a chance to play in the next stage of Duck Bowl III. They weren’t probably focused enough, especially in the offense, because 2 interceptions thrown and two fumbles lost are too much to be acceptable.

Group B

Phalanx 48 – 33 Brisbane Meteors

- Brisbane Meteors were out of the playoff hunt, but they didn’t give up, they had more rushing yards and passing yards than Phalanx, but 5 interceptions thrown (2 of them returned for TDs) were too much to beat strong Phalanx.

- Phalanx needed to win by more then 4 points to secure their spot in the playoffs and they did that. Especially their defense helped tremendously. Five interceptions caught by five different players is something you don’t see every day. That was great teamwork by Phalanx defense indeed.

- Duck Bowl III wasn’t a lucky cup for Meteors QB Salaam Diallo. He did score 3 TDs yesterday, but he also threw 5 interceptions. In total he scored 3 TDs and threw 8 interceptions during three matches of Duck Bowl III.

Slavia Pankrác 27 – 23 AS Roma Wolves

- Before the game, it was clear that the winner of this game would not only make it to the playoffs, but would also win the group. And it was the most dramatic game of all in this round. Slavia Pankrác won in the end and finally made it to the playoffs. Third time lucky.

- DL Borek Fryc helped a lot to break his teams “duck bowl curse”. He recorded three sacks, forced one fumble, recovered it and scored defensive TD.

- Wolves CBs didn’t have a great night. They missed too many tackles. Especially Alonso Biddle, who missed 3 tackles out of 3, and Marcelino Flannery, who missed 5 out of 6. But despite that Wolves had more total yards and first downs than their opponent. They just weren’t that effective and so their Duck Bowl mission came to an end.

Yeah I really like how my defence performed in this cup and last 2 weeks in general and can't wait when they'll actually have 100% team chemistry now If only I could get my offense sorted out and not failing horribly in each game... Semi final looks really hard though not sure if I can make to the final now...
