I was wondering two things.

1 How many plays / games does it take to raise a player by half an EXP star?

2 Is it the same for all players e.g. a centre that plays in every offensive play compared to a kick returner that may only get half a dozen plays a game?

Thanks for any help

I don't have exactly what you are looking for, but I have a program I've written that tracks it by date and I've had five players gain experience twice, meaning they've gained a full half star while on my team. The 4 senior team guys took between 174 days and 182 days, so an average of 6 months. Strangely my youth guy did it in 127 days, so he was quite a bit faster.

I play pretty much a full on squad rotation, so if you play with a starting lineup, it should take maybe half that time for the starters.

Hope this helps.

Edit: As I said they were all the same time-frame, and about all the same plays, and the positions were MLB, RB, DE, and OT for the senior guys.

Thanks Ausonny. That is a help as it atleast gives me an idea of a time frame for some of my players. My dilemma is young players that are low on experience - I'm never sure whether to train them up or if it's a waste of training points if it's going take too long for them to gain experience.

Thanks again.

I would add that some positions seems to gain more exp than others. While I don't methodically track like ausonny, I have noticed, for example, that CBs seem to gain faster than SFs.
I'm not sure if exp gains are based on plays they are part of, or actions they perform, like tackles or defending passes. But if it is actions, that would explain the above. Also C would gain faster, as far as OL goes, however OL seem to gain fairly fast anyway.
RBs, FBs, SFs and DL seem to take forever.

My DLs have been going fast enough. RBs and FBs take forever because it's hard to get them the same amount of plays as OLs or CBs. I play a massive amount of games in a year and intentionally play the guys who I want experience stars for, and it's resulted in at least eight guys gaining a half star since the start of this season. Really, it's a question of management.

This confuses me. The manual states that experience is gained in all regular matches. Regular matches are explained in another part of the manual as matches which generate income. I don't schedule a ton of friendlies or join a lot of friendly cups. Do these games generate experience?

Friendly games - if generating income - generate (small) experience

So experience comes from league games, supercup games, CofC games and friendlies on friday or a bye week or a playoff day that you are not participating in. Scheduling other friendlies that don't generate income or playing in friendly cups gets no stars.

exactly, because you should not be able to buy progress in RZA...and paying for experience by having friendlies for Credits is buying progress

Someone mentioned its about 2000-3000 snaps per half star. Not sure if that is competitive snaps ...
