Game settings: Go for 4th down when yards to go?.. set to Never.
Playbook running in basic mode. Friendly today "Q4 6:59 4 and 1 to go on opp 44, Ryan Wiseman (OC) snaps the ball to Randolph Turk (QB), Kelvin Neil (HB/C) gets the ball, he starts running over the center, Coleman Wallen (DE/L) breaks through, William Chadwick (TE/R) blocks, Kelvin Neil (HB/C) fumbles, the ball was recovered by Coleman Wallen (DE/L) (Big I formation vs. 5-3-3)" The result of the attempt was horrible - not surprising with a brand new team against a top team. However, if I set the game settings as don't go for it on 4th down surely that shouldn't happen anyway? I played a year ago - got bored when I got to the over loaded 1.1 league and left - but have come back for another try from the beginning, so I'm familiar with the playbook and will activate it soon. However the "basic" playbook shouldn't do things that are not correct in the game settings? Very confusing for beginners. |

I see your point, but breakin the rule "playbook over gamesettings" would be horrible IMO

I agree.
The problem is, I don't have a playbook! I'm still in basic mode, and haven't clicked the "Yes, please!" button to have a manual playbook. "The playbook is running in Basic mode. This means there is a playbook active, but you cannot make any changes to it. The playbook covers most aspects of the game. We suggest you to stick with this basic playbook during the first few weeks of your RZA career." So I'm told to stick to the basic playbook, therefore you would expect that the individual game settings would apply. But in this case, they don't. The problem is, the basic playbook that I guess you have running in the background has a rule to go for it on 4 and 1, I suspect when in the opponents half. However, if I was a true rookie who'd never played the game before I'd not have any idea how the playbook worked. So I'm told to stick to the basic playbook for 2 weeks (that's quite a few games potentially), I do my game settings as I'm told.. but when I say "don't go for it on 4th down" I am completely ignored. I can explain it like this because I played for over a year before - if I was totally new I'd see this and just think the game was broken. It's not a good beginner experience. |

I understood that already
The question is, how to explain this. It has to stay as it works now, so we can only add some help here and there. Maybe a hint in the gamesettings if the playbook is in basic mode |

Ok, I understand your issue.
Quick and dirty fix is to hide the "Go for it on 4th down" option using style=display:none for users who are still on the basic playbook |

ok. i am a n00b and am using the basic playbook. setting for 4th down is NEVER. my team just ran a 4th down play on my own 46 yard line.
do n00b's have a chance without the game engine overriding? thanks.... ~Joe |

The rest of the rules will work the same way as it is "without" playbook... |

I just started this week and trying to learn how everything works. so my understanding is that basically the settings fro the 4th down don't work. Am I right? Are the other settings working when you don't have the playbook enabled? |

If i put in 1st down orders - mainly rush.
What does that mean? Is it working, or it will be constatly overwritten by the playbook that i still don't know how it works? |
