Well, Dinoweb and the DUDs still have my number. Two very costly interceptions and my (lack of) run defense did the damage this time.

Congratulations, Dinoweb!

Well, our game finished pretty much as I expected. I spotted a few holes in my playbook, so I've patched those (I hope). Now off to study the Draft.

Congrats and Good Luck to everyone going forward.

Our game was certainly much closer than the last and fortunately the changes I made didn't screw me over.

However, watching it 'as live' I suffered a minor heart attack going 14-0 down in Q2 and missing a 48 yd FG. When it got to Q2 0:52 2 and 3 to go on opp 32 and we picked up 9 yards I was thinking FG. So was pleased that we had time to try one last pass which went in for a 23 yd TD.

However we were then able to score another 21 pts before you came back with a TD to start me worrying again but we managed to score another TD ourselves to your FG.

Thanks for your good wishes and good luck to you for next season. Now I get to have an other shot at the Leopards. Can we finally get a win against them???

Thanks dpierce. It has always bugged me when I run up better attacking yards and still lose the game. I understand your pain at the moment.

Having said that, I've worked hard to get my run offence working better, so that I'm not totally reliant on the pass any more, which seems to help scoring more consistently with shorter total yards.

Getting points on defence is also a big part for any successfull team. I've racked up 29 defensive TD's in league games. Those 2 intercepts are not a fluke.

Good game Assassinas

A bad start with a interception going for a TD didn't look good for the rest of the game. Then losing 13-17 at half-time it looked like I could at least make it a respectable loss, but my defense worked very hard and we managed to get in front in the 4th quarter and secure the win.

Until next time mate

Berinsfield Hornets vs. Panteras Assassinas
The Hornets are the favorite to win this, in Beckos and in Petes Rankings.
It doesn't help that they did put a sixty-burger on the Assassinas during the season.
But that was the only loss of the Assassinas during the season, while the Hornets did lose twice (Sharks and Leopards).
With facing an away game, don't pick the Hornets to win this.
I think Assassinas will win in a Close game here.
Why?
I can't put it on a single fact, I just think that this loss during the season had other reasons than dominance and both Teams are in the same league. Playing at home does also Count and te Rankings do work with the results and it's hard to rise above another Team if that does win almost equally during the season.
So, gut Feeling ...
Assassinas win.

Under 6 minutes to did Assasinas kick FG to tie the game.
Then were the Hornets cruising over the field for the win.
But look at this:
1:22 1 and 10 to go on opp 20, running -> 7 yards
0:53 2 and 3 to go on opp 13, passing -> 5 yards ->New first down
0:23 1 and goal to go on opp 8, runnning -> 5 yards
0:17 injury!
0:17 2 and goal to go on opp 3,passing -> 3 yards -> touchdown with 0:07 left.
THAT was a major gamble. I have seen games were with 23 second left and running the game was over.
Just a hint, check you playbook, a FG would have been also the win.
Anyway, my pick was wrong.

Blood Kings vs. Leverkusen Leopards
My Team is not afraid of the competition, but I would have liked the Snakes as Opponent a bit more. Even Ham does see himself as Underdog, the Kings are not to be underestimated.
Given my season record it's clear the Leopards are the favorites, but this can go any way. From a Close win by the Kings to a big win of the Leopards.
Still, I won't pick against my Team, so
Leopards win.

Not saying 'told you so, but my team did slowly scoring more points than they did allow.
Maybe next season, Ham.

Grand River Snakes vs. Torchwood Aliens
This is the most clear matchup of the gameday, at least in my book.
The Snakes did win their first Division title in the 1.1 and are now facing one of the top Teams of the Region.
They lost during the season on a 50 something game and honestly I do see them only winning this game if the Aliens getting homesick and leaving the planet.
Aliens win.

Closer than expected but a win.

Paxtang Black Panthers vs. Down Under Devils
This is the only game where Beckos and Petes Rankings do see things different. beckos has the Devils up front by 15, giving the home field Advantage and a better Rating Overall, while Petes Rankings do see the Panthers a bit higher ranked, with a game prediction undecided, to Close to see a clear favorite.
They did meet during the season and the Devils won at home by 14 Points in a low scoring game.
Devils lost only once during the season (Aliens) while the Panthers lost twice (Devils and Pioneers).
This will be Close and I will not pick against the home Team here.
But this is not final, everyone can win here.
Still ... Devils win.

Farer apart than I did expect it to go.

That way the 4 highest rated teams in Becko from Monarchs 1.1 do meet in the CC games.
The RZA ranks do have the Panthers at #2, so here we have 4 of the top 5 teams facing off against each other.

2016-06-21 17:00 Conference Championship
Berinsfield Hornets vs. Down Under Devils
RZA can't decide about a winner here, Becko sees the Devils ahead 5 points which is nothing.
Last time they met was season 18, a while back.
I do expect a close game, but honestly I also expect the Devils to win this.
They were the best team in the AC, it fits they will win the conference.
But Honets do have any chance to win this also.
Still, Devils win.

Torchwood Aliens vs. Leverkusen Leopards
I will not pick against my team, but I also know that this can go either way.
RZA does favor my team, Becko does the same with 11 points ahead.
That's also not big, but a bit distance.
We did meet last during the season, my team won by 4 points.
I hope it will be at least that big this time.
Leopards win.

Not much left in the season.
Relegation games will be interesting.
This season we don't have many BOTs and they all do relegate automatically, so at least 1.1 does field human only teams.

thanks for the heads up on the playbook, I was sure I had that covered, but only had a rule for if behind 1-3 points, not for a draw, so I kept on running the ball

Congratulations on the win!

I did try to make some changes on my defense for this game, but it was not enough.

One day I will learn how to play this game... or not!

I often (well sometimes!) find that I think I have everything absolutely covered and then a situation will come up that somehow I have overlooked

Well the games look interesting and i'm happier that we got closer to beating the Leopards than we did in the Elite league - but that game was at home, this one is away.

However, there is some additional significance to both games.

1) The Hornets and Aliens have never met in a league (or cup) game - despite being around for a few seasons in 1.1 and although we have played many friendlies.

2) The Hornets manager is the one responsible for introducing me to RZA. So if we both win our games it will be a 'Master' vs. 'Disciple' match up for the bowl.

What a fairy tale ending to the season. I don't suppose that would entice the Devils and Leopards just to lie down and die, would it?

No? I thought as much. You guys have no heart.
