I am not the only one with the opinion that the effectiveness of some defensive formations is weak. And considering the tactical matchup is ideal to much yardage/TDs are given up when using the 3-4 against shotguns for example. I also find defending against the Big I Pass is impossible. It needs to be looked at and sorted out.

my todays game shows that you can defend against Shotgun, even if your opp is higher in his material rating.

1) That link don't work.
2) I conceded 48 odd today. That's not what I call effective |

It's hard, but not impossible to defend against certain formations. If you know how your opponents players matchup vs your defenders, picking the right defense is easier, but it's not perfect. I spent all last season learning that although you might know what an opponent is doing up to the minute, there's nothing you can do if a mismatch is exploited. Couple that with players being out of position, missing tackles, etc. you might feel like you're fighting against an avalanche.

Think this needs to be looked at again. Seems most users are finding the Shotgun impossible to defend against. Its lopsided and means everyone is doing the same thing.

I don't think offense need touch. But defense could used some work.
What I mean that formation match up should matter. As much as players there. Meaning 34 should not match up to the spread signal back or 4wr in a pass play. While run plays would be great match up. 3-4 should be bad match up against the run if team running out of the big I or goal line. But great again the pass. Ect |

I have no idea whether you are right or wrong and whether some formations are too strong or too weak, do you know why? Because I have not looked at enough data to come up with an inform opinion about it.
Would you please provide a significant amount of data supporting your point? |
