Maybe we should make our own ridiculous set of rules? For example; RB's can be numbers 3-7, 38-44 or 64-71, QB's number must be a muliple of 9, WR's can be any number but no WR can be within + or - 4 of another WR and the number 99 is for the current worst performing player and can therefore change constantly during a season!

What is a "muliple"?

It's very similar to a multiple but i felt multiples would be too logical for this system!

I'm not following these number guide lines unless Pete says I have to. Left to my own accord I will use numbers like the Tardis which means they will be bigger inside than out.

LOL. I like it

I was just putting the numbering guidelines out there for those who did want to follow them. I'd hope Pete doesn't mandate, as its more fun for folks to pick their own.

Defensive backs (CB & SF) can use 1-49.
Same applies to Offensive backs.
Punters and Kickers can use ANY number.
The OL is generally 50-79. (and rarely, OC- 00)
DL and LBs can be 50-99.
Receivers can be 1-49 and 80-89.

Traditionally, teams will use:
1-19 for QB
1-29 for RB
30-49 for FB
50-59 for C
60-69 for OG
70-79 for OT
80-89 for WR and TE

70-79 or 90-99 for DL
50-59 of 90-99 for DE
40-59 or 90-99 for LB
1-49 for CB and SF

K and P are often 1-10

I like that RZA has no set rules on this, it's fun to see how players from other parts of the world chose to number their players. It would be good if there was a way to let us know if we've assigned the same number to two players... maybe a highlight box around the number? But... I am so tickled with Pete, I can't ask for more!

Yeah, in college ball, I think you can wear any number. In fact, sometimes there is duplication because the team is so large (with walk-ons).

I think it's more flexible than the pros but I don't think you can wear ANY number, there are rules regarding positions... receivers can't be wearing a lineman's number for instance.

Yeah, apparently there are recommendations:

Uniform number (American football)

NCAA

According to NCAA rule book, Rule 1 Section 4 Article 1 recommends numbering as follows for offensive players;

Backs 1–49
Center 50–59
Guard 60–69
Tackle 70–79
End 80–99

I think it should be mandated to follow NFL regulations and any player not wearing an appropriate position number should get the out of position penalty.

Let the shouting begin!

Are we going to also declare inactives before games too?
