BLOCKS OF GRANITE BOWL (Red Grange Conference Championship Game) (23.09.2016)
BobBoy Magpies @ Mombasa Lions -> Game -> Score: 13:19 Welcome to the BLOCKS OF GRANITE BOWL. Todays game did determine the Red Grange Conference Champion and boy, what a battle it was. Both teams started conservative in the 1st quarter and it took some time until the first scoring happened, 3 minutes in the 2nd quarter. The Lions got a great field position due a great return and managed to kick a field goal for the 3-0 lead. The Magpies were unable to answer that and in the next drive did Mombasa move the football from their own half deep into the opponents half and kicked another field goal. 6-0. Both teams then tried their best to move the ball, but only a Magpies turnover gave the Lions another scoring chance. On 1st and 10 on their own 2 yard line did Espen Sandnes fumble the ball and the Lions did punsh it in on the following drive for the 13-0 lead. The Magpies were confused and unsecure, so the next punt was not really good and help the Lions to set up another field goal try, which they made and extended the lead to 16-0 at the half. Over? Not so fast. The Magpies came out in good shape after the break and made a field goal about mid of 3rd quarter. The Lions stayed confident. Maybe over confident and allowed another made field goal after a long drive, late in the 3rd for the 16-6. When the 4th quarter started the game went on with a huge Lions drive, capped by a field goal to extend the lead to 19-6. Over? Not so fast. Mid of the 4th quarter did the Lions fumble and the Magpies returned it for a touchdown! 19-13 and an open game suddenly. And 2 drives later did the Magpies get the ball on the Leions 27 yard line, with a big help from their special team on the punt-return. The Lions did bend, but on 4th and 2 the defense did stuff the ball carrier and held on to the win. The Mombasa Lions earned the right to play in the FOUR HORSEMEN BOWL, the Magpies had to settle with an early vacation. RED ELEPHANTS BOWL (Ernie Nevers Conference Championship Game) (23.09.2016) Basterds @ Maykop Dynamos -> Game -> Score: 0:7 The RED ELEPHANTS BOWL did feature two strong teams, willing to settle once and for all the Ernie Nevers Conference Championship of this season. The Basterds had some great games in the last few weeks, while the Dynamos were dominant all season long. The meeting between both teams during the season was a ruled game because of some strange behaviour on Dynamos side and th only loss they got during the season. Both teams did promise a defense slaughterhouse, no prisoners and lots for hard boiled football, what ever that means. The first half was exactly that, with more or less no real movement on offense at all, on both sides. The fans were shouting for some offense action, but the defenses did kill everything! Nobody knew it, but the 3rd quarter did decide the game. Basterds were able to nove a bit late in the quarter and were already in field goal range, when they fumbled the ball on 3rd and 6 and the Dynamos did return the ball for 37 yards, but were stopped on the Basterds 30 yard line. A few surprising plays later did the Dynamos use their gift to the max and ran the football into the endzone for the 7-0 lead. Basterd did try to recover, but failed on offense. Early in the 4th did the Dynamos miss a field goal try, but that did also not help the Basterds to recover. Maykop did keep the lead and won their ticket to the FOUR HORSEMEN BOWL. The Basterds did drown their grieve in Jacky-Cola. Last edited on 2016-10-03 13:16:54 by jack6 |

FOUR HORSEMEN BOWL (Leatherhead-League Championship Game) (24.09.2016)
Mombasa Lions VS. Maykop Dynamos -> No game (Lions had a different friendly scheduled) -> Score: 0:20 (ruled) The FOUR HORSEMEN BOWL was packed with fans, but the Mombasa Lions did not come to play. Early rumors of a Dynamos conspiracy (not to mention the Alien high-jacking theory) were destroyed when the Lions did present themselves on the screens inside the arena. By some coincident were basically all players women in need for help and the players did decide, each of their own, to help, instead of to play. So ALL players did not show up. The fans were understanding that, the commissioner said 'yeah, they did the right thing, but the Bowl was still busted, so *peeeeeeeep* them!' The league did start some investigation of that issue and against the commissioner. Likely nothing will come up, as usual. So the winner was selected, the Maykop Dynamos, and every fan got their own selfie with the players and the trophy, since there were an additional 3 hour time slot by the missed playing time. This was all shown on TV live, became a viral incident and made you tube send the league money for the clicks of 1.76$, making it one of the most successful streams ever. Amersfoort Alligators @ Firenze Fappers -> Game -> Score: 0:8 The halftime show did feature all former Firenze players since the team was founded, which did give the field manager a tough time after a 4-figure-amount of players went over the field with waving arms. |

The game ended 3-0 for the Magpies after a scoreless 4th quarter and the Drinkers did fire their refreshment manager right after the end of the game. "He was a dick" was the official statement. Nice one, Jack. Well done! |

After season ini, although on limited numbers up to now, the 5-3-3 is not so dominating against the run any more. Maybe one of our cup participants lobbied for a small change Must have been a very powerful participant |
