Juicy, tantalising, exciting, tense, epic. All words that can be used to describe this week's GOTW, the final one of the year already!

LM Pirates and Wild Thangs are gonna battle it out for the coveted title of AC East division! The game could not be more carefully balanced and we are all looking out to it.

Our beat writers are sent on the road again for the last time before they can spend some well deserverd time with their families.

Over to our expert analyst smokerteer...

A straight-forward winner takes the top spot battle is the Game of the week, between two playoff teams with ten wins each.
LM Pirates haven't been the most impressive of teams, amongst their five losses so far have been defeats by The SQUALES of Beach, Severnside Cardinals and a recent loss to Ville Vikings. None of these teams are poor but The Pirates would not of surprised anyone with victories over these teams. On the other hand they do have a victory already over Wild Thangs (42-21), and the highly impressive victory @ Inbhir Narann (20-8).
Wild Thangs other than their defeat to LM Pirates have only really had one poor result, that was the trouncing they received @ The Green Machine (54-14). Of their other three defeats only the 18 point defeat @ Deflators was one sided. Their losses to Inbhir Narann by 4 and Hucknall Broncos by 7 were actually quite impressive, although it should be noted that Wild Thangs were at home for those two games. They have managed notable wins @ Flow Gaming by 25 points and a 7 point win while entertaining Budapest Wolves. Although good wins, neither were a shock.
Wild Thangs certainly have the more expensive team, with a wage bill more than 50% more than that of LM Pirates, and both teams are able to pull out great playbooks on occasion but it's more likely that the better conditioned team will win. I think Wild things will have an edge throughout the game but it will be the fourth quarter where we will see daylight between the teams as Wild Thangs dominate the late game.

Thanks smokerteer for that excellent analysis. Now over to Fijer of LM Pirates for his interview with the GOTW crew:

Question 1.
One game to decide all. Following the demise of Simkon it was almost destined to be like this. You have the better D, they the better O. TDD is almost identical. This could almost not be more delicately balanced than it is now. Do you notice we are excited for this game? :-) How are you feeling about it? Is the pressure getting to you? How has the locker room been this week?

Well, I am really excited about this. Fortunately we both have a Play-Off spot, so a loss won't be as dramatic as it would be, but of course I want to win my first division title in 1.1 and play in my stadium my first play-off game. Long story short: we want to win, but a loss is not a big problem.

Question 2.
One of the keys to your success this season has been your ability to protect your QBs. Looking at them it seems Mahmood is the typical gunslinger, high risk, high reward. Schneider meanwhile seems to take care of the balll better with less TDs as a result. Fans have been arguing all week on who they want to start but Will you make a definitive choice for this game with the whole season on the line?

Schneider has done a great job, but I think that my young QB must take the step forward. I'm not 100% sure if this will be the game when Mahmood will go for it or I will wait for the next season...

Question 3.
What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?
I wish I knew... hahaha If I win my SuperCup play-off game I might recover morale and have a chance, if I lose it is going to be really hard.

BONUS Question 4.
Come on, predict the game:
Final score: Pirates 20-17 Thangs.
MVP for you: My MLB Rasin Naser.

And straight onto stizz of Wild Thangs:

(EDITOR NOTE: the GOTW staff is exhausted at the end of this season and therefore we forgot to send a second question to stizz. He was very nice though and gave an answer anyway. We then created a question to match the answer We have however send the original question his way and when the answer comes in we will u p d a t e this post.)

Question 1.
One game to decide all. Following the demise of Simkon it was almost destined to be like this. You have the better O, they the better D. TDD is almost identical. This could almost not be more delicately balanced than it is now. Do you notice we are excited for this game? :-) How are you feeling about it? Is the pressure getting to you? As you know, Fijer and his Pirates have beat us the last five times we have fought, no matter what I tried. We would really like to win this game, and the guys are hungry - but I am not feeling very confident.

Question 2.
What do you do to relax and getaway from the stress of football management and what do you think of then?

I [...] like long walks on the beach and home-cooked meals. [...] I wish that I had not lost my star QB due to my financial screw-up.

The Real Question 2.
Al Haley (QB) leads the league in passing TDs (40). That is an amazing achievement. He's only been intercepted 5 times as well and it's easy to see why a lot of people think he's the MVP of Thunder 1.1 for Season 23. Do you agree?

Wow! I honestly had no idea. He is a very young QB, only playing because I lost my best QB due to a typo on the transfer market...
I suppose it's because of my WR and TE corps. If we keep winning, I guess MVP would be nice!

Question 3.
What do you think the key deciding factor in this game will be?
I hope our conditioning helps us, but if Fijer uses MOTY we do not stand a chance. I will need some big plays on Defense.

BONUS Question 4.
Come on, predict the game:
Final score: Thangs 24 - Pirates 38
MVP for you: LB Shaun Wheeler
