Hello all and welcome back to week 5 of the GOTW show. Apologies for the two missed shows we had so far due to IRL festive celebrations. But we are back with a cracker of new vs old.
The Green Machine raised many eyebrowes with some eye catching wins in S23 and I think any team who don't see them in their fixture list are happy to do so! Totoras Patriots meanwhile are one of the oldest teams in Thunder 1.1 and were one of the teams who were unlucky enough to meet the rookie team last season and revenge must be on their mind. Our beat writers are out on the road again... |

Fortunately jggreen was in the neighourhood and ran into our beat writer while getting a coffee at the local coffee shop:
Question 1. Your weekly wage is up to 3.5 mill a week and some commentators are openly commenting on the sustainability of a squad on such high wages. What is your strategy here and what are your goals for this campaign? I buy vets that guys don't want and sign to 2 year contracts when possible. I can run with 3.5 million. I will end up with around 15 to 20 million in excess income. I am at 14 million now. Also a good portion of that salary is maxed out in so far as it will not increase any longer. I'm only looking to add a few more pieces at this time. My goal is to make the playoffs. Question 2. You lead the league in sacks with 48 (!!!) in 4 games. What is your secret? No secret. I blitz and I look for very fast players. Question 3. Last season you obliterated the Patriots. This season you seem more evenly matched. What do you think will be the deciding factor in this game? I always say the team that runs the ball and doesn't turn it over with interceptions and fumbles will win. |

Well like I said the team that turns the ball over the most losses. We threw four interceptions two in the fourth quarter one for a touchdown. We gave up 13 points in the fourth quarter going from being ahead by 3 to losing by 9. Perhaps I need to tweak The Playbook and are ahead in the 4th quarter.

I was afk in the last days. Sorry for not being able to answer. It was an ugly game. My offense still does not appear and I have a hard time getting yards. My annotations are justified by the good position I get the special teams, a good kicker and opportunism to steal the ball.
