Kessler has been 3rd on the depth chart all season ... guessing it's still the arm strength issue. The Browns twitter announced Hogan as the backup, leading into the first game.

Will be interesting if they go with Hogan moving forward and try to win some games, or keep throwing Kizer to the wolves to get him experience. For the Brown's sake, I hope Kizer isn't going down the path of the last 30 years of Notre Dame QBs being high pick NFL busts:

2017 DeShone Kizer - 2nd, #52? (Too early to say, to be fair.)
2010 Jimmy Claussen - 2nd, #48.
2007 -G.O.A.T- Quinn - 1st, #22.
1993 Rick Mirer - 1st, #2.
1987 Steve Beuerlein - 4th, #110.

That list looks pretty ugly, other than Beuerlein (who was merely a journeyman backup for the Raiders, Cowboys, Cardinals and Jaguars - before finally having some good success about twelve years in with Carolina, after Kerry Collins had his little meltdown). And at least he only cost them a 4th rounder.

Maybe because the Irish always seem to have such excellent RB + WR talent, the QBs from their system get over rated? Definitely seems strange they've produced so many busts.

Ah ok, I missed that since I dont have twitter (or facebook or all the other social media)

But What I ment was that before week1 it was all about will Kizer get the job? Or maybe Kessler? Or is there even a small possibility that Osweiler will get the job? And then the way I read things it really looked like Kessler was in the number 1 position to at least start in week 1.

And Hogan.... well, it looked like people just forgot about him and now it seems like he is the QB that can "turn things around". OK, that pick he threw was ugly, but at least he got the Browns going

Hogan it is and despite this being another change under center (for how long?) i'm pretty excited! I watched every game this season and Hogan did show a lot more than Kizer.

On a browns fansite I even read that Hogan's stats in collega football were better on every aspect compared to Kizer. A second thing I read is that Hogan also scored better in every aspect of the combine. (I haven't checked above statetements myself).

Will Hogan be the answer? Regarding the we need a win modus I do think he is the best option available.

If it doesn't work out than we will have Sam Darnold to look forward too!

Suprisingly it does appear that Hogan is the better of the two on almost every statline/result

I never understood drafting Kizer... He wasn't gonna give them any chance. If a player starts regressing in college it's not a great start. I just hope for Sam he ends up in SF with Kyle Shanahan rather than in Cleveland. It's just too great an opportunity for a young QB

Kyle Shanahan is a great fit for any talented young QB. Look at the match of Beathard! Almost accomplished an epic comeback in his first match!

That's true... But my question would be are the Browns tanking or is their new management failing again???

Listening to earlier interviews with Sashi Brown and Hue Jackson both men thought the team was better and further in their development than their performances show. I don't believe they came into the season with tanking on their mind. I think they thought about winning some matches and i believef that as well. The team showed promise in the preseason but fell apart when the going's get tough... The reciever core is a mess.. and the offense plays without confidence.

Regardinh the offense it's my opinion (not a very deep knowledge about football) that Hue is asking too much from his qb's. He calls a lot of deep balls with a not so good reciever corps. He has to give his qb's easy throws and options instead of the long balls... hope the game improves in the coming weeks

Tanking for sam seems the not unvollentary option now for this season.
