The deadline is the first gameday. He plays for your team, he sticks with your team. This is easy to understand. So no, I won't move any deadlines forward, I'm sorry.

Something to consider:

A retiring player that is Trans listed and doesn't sell is either auto fired (with the 5 week salary cost) OR immediately retires as if it were the end of the season.

@Pete, I am not affected by this but I think there is a strong case for some leniency (like the one suggested above) to be allowed here as it is clear that, despite your best intentions, there has been confusion re this new rule. Just for this year.

not not even firing retiring guys in the preseason was an strong option back than, and in the whole discussion going on there was not once a hint that the ban of retirees from the TM would be lifted too for that span - I suggested something like that on the last page of that thread ("trade or retirement option") but there was no indication that was in consideration. so I have no idea how other guys understood that option was being added too...

I can't speak for others but this thread is how I knew.

Once more: I won't do anything on this for the current season. As always, I will see how things work out, and if needed, I will adapt things. Nothing more to say on this topic. The ruling on the field stands!

Some of you guys wonder why I did not enter a poll, or have further discussion on these topics. If you need to know why, just check the style of the previous discussions - about Coaches karma, about taxes, and so on. Most of the times some managers jump in and try to push me towards a certain direction, and I refuse to enter this path again. I simply refuse to get pushed around by a loud minority. Much more enjoy the positive feedback I get. More and more I get such positive feedback via PM or Email, and not in the forums anymore. There is a portion of managers just dislike to stand up against the loud minority, because they fear to be "attacked" in the forums, of just because they do not care about this loud minority. It was never the goal of the games creator to create a place where people just fear to go public. If I have to make a choice one day if I should stick with the silent majority, or a loud minority...I guess this will be easy. No, this is no warning towards ...whoever. Just a small insight...

The first observation I have noticed about the change is I now won't bid on the 30 plus year olds now for fear they may retire unless I know they are not retiring from transfer market post.

If you are selling players of retirement age I suggest you put up a transfer market postssying so.

Pete could we not have some indication that a player has announced an intention to retire. It's not like a player who announced his retirement in the NFL or any sport would be sold without the buying club being aware of this.

Doesn't it say on the scouting report they will retire at the end of the season?

No. Only the selling team knows and can let you know.

It does tell you on the scouting report whether a player is retiring.
